HTC Supersonic maybe rendered, matches up with leaks so far
Okay, look, we're not saying it's unpossible for someone with some incredible Illustrator skill to have thrown this together after seeing the supposed leak last night -- there are definitely plenty of talented people out there with far too much time on their hands. That being said, this matches up perfectly with everything we know and everything we've been told so far, so even if it is fake, it probably gives us some good insight into what Sprint's terrifying beast of a phone is going to look like up close. The Supersonic is said to have a 4.3-inch display and WiMAX alongside Sense -- so if it's all true, we strongly suggest other carriers be ready to step up their Android game. Any other leaks care to step forward today?

@l3admonky I don't like the diagonal line on the screen/buttons and the light gray/dark gray difference. Why did they do that?
@l3admonky
Another picture?

@Dilbert Good find!! Looking to be more fact than rumor now.
@Dilbert
Icons look like it's running 1.5...
@ljm Oh, that's because of the Sense UI. I don't think it uses the slot rotation scrolling that 2.1 has.

Looks like it will have a kick stand.
@N900
I just hope this is the new Sense UI for 2.0/2.1 and HTC did away with that woeful bubble look they let leak a while ago.
@Accidental First time I seen that image (was before I seen the render) i thought they'd gone for a bubbeled matt finish...
Looks very sexy now, stick snapdragon in it.. and I may well be sold.
@Accidental
@Banksta3
The Touch Pro2 isn't an Android phone though. A quick check of Sprint's website shows that no Android phone is listed above 179.99 on 2 year contract so there's still hope.
What does Android 3.0 have in contrast to 2.1 as this is supposedly running 3.0.
@Banksta3
I think it's funny that people look at the upfront cost of Sprint phones opposed to the long term contract costs. In reality, having a larger upfront cost is far better than having a larger long term contract cost... I am sure everyone would agree. But most people don't realize that in order to give you those low upfront hardware prices, the companies charge the hell out of you long term. It's a great marketing scheme if you ask me, but I certainly won't give in to it anymore... Give me $100 more initially so I can save $600+ over two years...
And PS: This phone made me drool a little. I will drop the hero in heartbeat and pay the subsidized Sprint "Full Retail" cost which is still subsidized.
@l3admonky: with sense UI it makes no sense. This second I hear all the one crying about their HTC hero because it has sense UI and Andriod OS 1.5 only.
@geekthree
Isn't Snapdragon 1ghz? Because this thing does have 1ghz.
@Banksta3
I have been out of contract a month now. So I am ready. Guess I have to drop SERO also to jump on the Snapdragon bandwagon. Anyone mention a date for this yet?
@Banksta3 That's funny seeing as Wii-Max runs at 3.5G speeds. I think its GREAT that sprint can FINALLY run at GSM 3G speeds, FINALLY! LOL
Rest assured when OUR 4G comes along it will be "REAL" 4G.
Enjoy that 3.5G Wii-Max speed! Oh wait.... its not on any phone in Existence yet.... darn!
@l3admonky The device will be similar to the HTC HD2 and equipped with 4.3-inch display and fast processor (that still remains unknown) integrated into a really thin body. The HTC Supersonic will be running Android 2.1 and HTC Sense interface. More details and screenies: http://bit.ly/htc-supersonic-details
@l3admonky No doubt! I'm a Sprint Pre user and this phone may have me switchin'... You mentioned the pinch and zoom could carry over from the Hero... hopefully it will be closer to the Pre's p and z (second to the iphone's)... Hero's not so good.... Why does the Hero get it but not the Droid or Nexus??? Another post.... Multitasking??
@Banksta3 I remember when I saw the demo for the hd2 with winmo 6.5 veiled in the sense... badass!!! and the comments were flowing in... "I hope Sprint gets it".... Welp here we are!!... Release date??
Now if I could just get WiMAX in my area this phone would be THE phone to have. Actually, even with no WiMAX here I still want this phone!
@nerdherd
I have WiMax in my area, but this thing also needs to support 3G, given the limited availability of 4G in the U.S. Sure, it'll get better over time, but a smartphone without 3G is crippled.
@nerdherd For a low low price of $100,000 I'll build a WiMAX network in your area... No I'm not kidding, I've been looking into seeing how much it would cost and where to put antennas, etc.
@SirSpam
Need a hobby?
@nerdherd Moving to Seattle in a short while (which is Sprint/Clear's largest WiMAX metro). This is RIDICULOUSLY tempting.
@nerdherd
WINNAR!
WiMax + Snapdragon makes it suitably future-proof. I'd have no problem locking myself into a contract for this phone.
It'll definitely come down to this or iPhone 4.0. I'll probably take the plunge with whoever can put a device in my hand the soonest. (That's the reason I didn't mention WM7 :P )
@Spiny Norman So far every 4G modem sprint has sold has been 3G backwards compatible. And I would assume they would have to put a 3g radio in anyway to handle voice calling when you're in a non 4g area.
@donatom3
Yes, but voice != data. I believe you can support 3G voice without supporting the 3G data.
I would like to believe that the phone supports 4G/3G data. If so, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. However, I haven't seen anything definitive.
@donatom3 It would actually have to have 3 radios in it.
4G: Data only I would assume.
3G: EV-DO is data only.
2G: 1xRTT is what all CDMA phones use for voice.
So unless Sprint somehow makes this a VOIP phone, it will have to have 3 radios in it.
I really really really hate those icons.
@doutorpiranha
If this was a Facebook status i would like it. =D
@doutorpiranha
I really really really really don't mind them.
@HardToBelieve
o rly?
You really really need to STFU. They're fine, big baby
@n0ne
That had no relevance at all.
@doutorpiranha
I don't get what's the deal with the icons hate. There look like, well, icons to me...
@HardToBelieve
Google: meme
@doutorpiranha
They're... the same ones from the usual Android devices... what's the problem?
@n0ne
I know what it means. But it has no purpose in this conversation. Which is what I meant when I told you that it wasn't relevant. So, I have no idea why you're telling me that I don't know what it means.
@xFenixKnightx
HEY Bud,
I second that and I'll top it, I'll buy a large warm cup of STFU for all the puss bags complaining about it, if Sprint puts this out loaded, I'll shoot my wad and then buy it, I give a truck if it has cock and balls for icon"s
LMFAO
Wow, nice! I am glad I am on Sprint.
Is there ever going to be a point where these screens are too large?
4.3 seems to be pushing it.
@Steve Jobs Jr
Agreed, 4.3 might just be the magic number for the usability/obtrusiveness ratio.
@Steve Jobs Jr
I'm glad someone else has acknowledged how large these things are getting. I love the specs, but they need to keep in mind that it is a phone first; multimedia\music syncing\video viewing\tv remote\garage door opening\automatic cat feeding machine second.
Now that is a sexy, sexy phone.
Although, 4.3 is just about pushing the limit of an Android powered phone's upper size capacity.
Any bigger and you're going to see a lot more dorky belt holsters.
@CJ
Wait, those are dorky? Uhoh. Well, this explains a lot.
OMG SO FRIGGIN AWESOME!
@MegaJapan

@onlymyrailgun
...
Is your screenname what I think it is? 'Cause I love that song o.o'...
My only thought when seeing this rendering/leak/photo/whatever is that it lacks the green and red call buttons we've come to expect on Android handsets, especially the HTC ones.
Other than that, bring it on! ;)
@Is907
Nexus does not have them.
