Posted on: 26 January 2010
The U135 is the first Wind model to feature Intel's Pine Trail Platform
CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA – January 26, 2010 – MSI Computer, a leading manufacturer of computer hardware products and solutions, is proud to announce the availability of the MSI Wind U135 netbook. These special edition netbooks commemorate the millions of Wind models sold globally and are the first to feature the powerful, yet efficient Intel Pine Trail Platform with the Atom™ N450 processor . Available in Silver, Charcoal, Ruby and Sapphire, the newest addition to the Wind family also features a 160GB or 250 GB hard drive, 1 GB of DDR2 memory and Windows 7 Starter and start at $309.99.
The U135's new CPU and single chipset architecture combine to consume just 7 watts, increasing battery life by 15% and overall performance by as much as 10%. Consumers can choose between a 3-cell or 6-cell battery, with the later delivering a battery life of up to 7.5 hours.
The U135's battery life also benefits from MSI's exclusive MSI ECO Engine Technology and an efficient LED display. The ECO Engine technology allows users to choose from 5 power modes–Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Document and Turbo Battery–to customize the power supply based on usage requirements.
The U135 also features several design upgrades including a new raised chiclet keyboard and a color film printed case. The elevated keys are 20% larger, firm to the touch and improve typing accuracy and user comfort. The U135's stylish color film printed case prevents smudging, giving the netbook a glossy finish. MSI also packed a 1.3M webcam, D-Sub port, 3 USB 2.0 ports and 4×1 card reader into the portable lightweight U135.
The new Wind U135 is available now at retailers such as Fry's Electronics and Comp USA, and online at Amazon and Newegg for $309.99 – $329.99. MSI offers a 1-year limited warranty with the U135 and extended customer services hours at 1-888-447-6564.

Newegg has them.

@One Love
Where the hell is the U230?? It got leaked back in November, Hexus did the review of it in December and its still not in stock here in the US.
@coredump
I was expecting it to be released this month and was planning on buying one, but I heard it might not be available until April, and while I really hope that's not the case it seems more and more likely. I was also expecting it to be shown at CES, but no mention whatsoever. I love my U100, I just need a little more power and a resolution > 1024 x 600.
@KittenMittens
Have you heard why though? Toshiba has a Amd Neo l335 netbook out right now I think. I hope the delay that is affecting MSI doesn't also affect Lenovo's x100e.
@Core Dump: Is this what you are looking for?

@One Love
Not quite. That has the Neo single core, the mv-40. Plus it has the radeon 1200 instead of the 3200.
@One Love On the outside, the MSI Wind U135 looks like just about every other Wind netbook that you’ve already encountered. Not too boastful, but way not shabby either for your 2010 budget netbook..

Asus 1008P (N450) Wah?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=1008P&x=0&y=0
@One Love Or the HP Mini 210, which sells for $280, the N450+Crystal HD version is $330, I think.
@hmmwv Once you add the HD chip and all the other normal options you'd want, the price on the HD version skews closer to teh $450-500 range. I looked, and then went with the latest Asus Eee instead. Granted, I don't have the 720p screen, but not sure I really want it on a screen that small, and IMO, no netbook should cost $500.
Yawn, more generic netbook, Ion?, Ion2? Hello?
Thank god they left a VGA port on there so I can hook it up to a 20-year-old monitor.
@cookiecrook
Why do you have a 20 year old monitor? Dude... you should upgrade.
@cookiecrook
I hook mine up to my Kuro Pioneer plasma. VGA is still VERY much adequate for playing some tv shows and movies through my netbook.
@coredump
Error error, your sarcasm detector has malfunctioned.
@cookiecrook
Hasbro seems to be putting out better netbooks as time goes by. They're certainly looking a lot more colorful than before.
For $10 less you can get an ASUS 1001p with the same specs but much much better battery life
Even my S10-2 was more expensive, and it didn't have Pine Trail!
When will they smarten up and put displayport on these things?
@AltairDusk
I think we've been asking when will be on a netbook for quite some time.. its all about price.
@hfm
haha.. silly parser...
.. when will [insert performance or cutting edge feature] be on netbooks..
@AltairDusk
They all use the same stock PCB designs and chipsets, so they need the people who really are designing these things to put these things in, then they all will have HDMI/displayport/whatever.
And they might be under pressure as to what to not put in.
YAWN.
