Alienware didn't drop too many details about how it was
revising its M15x and M17x gaming lappies back at CES, but now both of those are finally ready to be ordered by the drooling masses. The "little" guy is available with a Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 processor, your choice of a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M or 1GB GeForce GTX 260M, a 1,600 x 900 or 1,920 x 1080 15.6-inch WLED panel, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 250GB HDD (or a 128GB / 256GB SSD for those with the coinage) and plenty of lights to go around. The big brother can be ordered with a Core i7-920XM processor, dual 1GB GeForce GTX 280M GPUs (or a pair of Radeon Mobility HD 4870s), optional Blu-ray drive and pretty much anything else you can imagine. Follow the links below if you're eager to be first in line -- the M15x gets going at $1,199 (and should ship early next month), while the M17x starts at $1,799 with a Core i7.
[Thanks, Joshua]
@refink
Vista is not an installed on these machines
@D1rtyD1ngusMcGee I had assumed it would be Win 7 but the picture above says different
sorry to be pedantic, but aren't laptops meant to be portable? this seems like youd require a crane to relocate.
No Problem...(im josh)
Its ugly but in inside sexy as hell.!!!
Alien technology
This is one badass machine, but I prefer gaming on a desktop. Gaming laptops seem kind of stupid to me (considering how big and heavy they are).
Anyone notice the crappie ergonomics? The track pad is so offset to the left it's brutal. If you use the typical W/A/S/D buttons for shooters and work the track pad at the same time you'll be completely cramped. Using an external mouse is gonna be grand while sitting on the bus dabbling in a game. Since it can't be the other way. I don't care if anyone questions using a track pad period, it's a fact.
The original MX15/17 looked slick and clean. These new models look like some of those StarWars computers you buy for a 4 year old in Walmart for $60.
But damn, such nice nice specs...
I have this laptop (without the i9) and it is awesome. The most expensive item I have ever owned (other than my car and house) at $4000+ and it is worth the money. SLI nVidia 280! Man it is fast. It also supports 3 external monitors which is why I got it for software development. I also bumped up to 1 terabyte of HDD space and it does video editing like a dream. Looks like a Cadillac STS from the front though....
This blog is a fail. The Core i7 M17x does not support nvidia geforce 280m gtx's. Also, it isn't news that the M15x has core i7 processors, it always had them. Get your facts straight, nubsauce.
damn it, how come they took out the bluray optical on the M17X... and They suppose to be up o date on everything, why no 5870 mobility...
Do you know why this article is a fail? Because the M17x R-2 never has, and probably never will, have Dual Nvidia Geforce 280's as an option.
To date, the only graphics cards you've been able to configure this laptop with are ATI Radeon Moblity 4870's.
most alienware laptop r like they r made in 1st century [well it can't be true]
very booring looks[only performance---excellent]
