Lenovo names T410i, T410si, and T510i ThinkPads in honor of Core i3-330M inside
Hey everybody, new ThinkPads! Lenovo seems hellbent on crushing its reputation for pricey hardware -- while presumably maintaining the related renown for rugged reliability -- and today it's snuck out a set of new i-appended variants of its flagship T series laptops. The T410i, T410si and T510i come equipped with the budget-friendly Core i3-330M CPU from Intel, which runs at 2.13GHz, alongside otherwise typical specs. Memory goes from 2GB to 8GB of DDR3, two megapixel webcams come as standard, and fingerprint sensors can be tacked on as well. Even more friendly to businesses on a shoestring is the option for Windows XP pre-installations on the T410i and T510i. Prices are not yet available, but the whole trio should be coming out by the end of this month, so not long to wait now.

Finally the comment system come back online. back to the topic, love these new thin think laptop, hope it would be reasonbiliy priced.
@k2001 Agreed, after looking at that PDF it seems like we only have to wait until the 10th to find out.
@Velorium The 'Feb 10' avail date in tabook.pdf refers to Feb 2010 not Feb 10th.
From the Lenovo email where these Thinkpads were announced:
"The PSREF team will be on holidays for Chinese New Year from February 10 to 19, 2010."
Dunno if that applies to all of Lenovo, but my guess is reseller pricing soon (before Feb 10th); volume shipments before the end of the month (after Feb 19th).
@notpeter Oops, thanks for that.
On the picture fingerprint sensor is not in a good place.
User would touch it by palm when using trackball/touchpad.
@scrat
The reason why Lenovo decided to put the fingerprint reader next to the trackpad is so people's hand doesn't need to travel too far from the trackpad.
I hope the X210 (or is it the 201?) is soon to follow.
sweet, I've been looking into Thinkpads for my next notebook but the prices have kept me reluctant. Hopefully the pricing will be very competitive.
@theedude Well, I am kind scared whenever I hear of price cuts. I think that I would rather go for the old T400 than some crippled T410.
Hi, actually someone told me that core i3 is basically equal to core 2 duo E8400 ... how much is this thing true.. ?
@coolnick
the core i3 can process 4 threads where as the core 2 duo can only process 2. So it's not equal.
@Skwidwerd Thanks a lot man.. guess i was given very wrong info.
I don't get the confusing product policy of Lenovo. There are really too many different Models. SL, R, T are pretty redundant if you ask me. T should be enough - especially since if you wait for a good deal they cost as much as an SL or R.
@dieterk
T, X (excepted for x100e), and W are true thinkpad. All the other line of thinkpad are crippled version.
@k2001
I agree. T, X and W are legit. So why offer the others at all? So they can keep high prices for the T-line as business clients won't paying extra if they see, that there are crippled versions that are much worse but cheaper? I guess business clients don't look for deals to cut down T-Model prices to SL and R?
Anyway. Lenovo is really confusing. I mean they also have all these other Laptop lines. Ideapad etc. while all you need is T, W and X.
@dieterk
The other models are for small business that could not get corporate discount. The difference in price is around $200- $300 normally with discount. Ideapad is for personal use, and the G series are for first time computer buyer.
I do not like the lid. It looks less solid than on previous thinkpads.
