@leannems
You don't have to wear the BT headset all the time; just toss it in your purse as well. When you get a phone call, put the headset in your ear and push the button on it to pickup the call.
But I do agree with the sentiment. I rarely use the phone so half the time I forget to put my headset in my pocket and I have to hold my brick to my face for the rare call anyway.
I hope Palm puts WebOS on a device like this soon.
Not that I dislike Android, I just prefer the ease of use, notifications and multitasking with WebOS. Great looking hardware though.
This thing looks awesome. I love the big screen and the fact that it's meant to do many things so it's like a mini computer!! My only grip is it's thinness because I know most thing phones have crappy batteries...
My questions:
1) How long is the load time to homescreen?
2) The battery is 1530 mAh, how did the battery perform under steady use and how is standby?
3) How is call quality?
4) VOIP calls possible?
5) Are there multiple homescreens?
6) Anything stand out that makes this different than other Android devices?
That's all that matters to me...mainly the battery. Tired of getting a phone and then having to buy extended batteries...
When will it be available to the rest of the mass's????
what does this have over the HD2?

@Engagged
that's funny!
No offense Engadget, but, that video sucked!
Does it have a sim card to make calls?
or just 3g data?
You think android can be hacked for calling
@grush
I'm assuming you haven't looked at the pics, this thing is meant to make calls and it takes a sim card.
@grush
Yea, I havn't looked at the pix first...
Please post sample pictures!
Its 5MP!
does it geotag em?
This looks promising. WiFi, 3G for data & calls, 5MP camera w/ dual flash, and Android OS? Damn. Dell just whipped it out and smacked tablet fans in the face. I'll keep this one in mind. I need a new phone, but this tablet will fit my huge hands perfectly.
Would be nice to see the video, why are you guys using Flash !!!!!
there's a video on youtube (in Greek) that gives you the head-to-handset size perspective. it's big, but not embarassingly so. interestingly, the last part of the video shows a docking station with mini USB and HDMI out.

I have a feeling that Engadget is under strict orders by Dell. If I had to guess, I'd say Dell gave Engadget a unit and outlined very clearly what they can and cannot say/ display until MWC. Just my .02, but I would imagine a hot device like this would take all of ONE day tops to get out a proper review. Heck, in one day of ipad they managed to post about 30 stories. Considering Engadget is the only blog (that I know of) that has one of these, I am sure it is conditional and becuase Dell trusts that they will follow the rules.
@michaelbrandonw Interesting theory... shame it didn't pan out. It is now the 18th. They have had the Dell unit for a week.
I must concur on your observation that the iPad had dozens of stories covering even the most mundane features. Yet this Dell devices was given to them for a hands-on review and a week later nothing more than a few shots and random video.
I wonder what is going on.
More videos!
When the thing is off and just laying on the table at the beginning of the clip, the face of the device reminds me of a Storm 2. The size of it reminds me of a PSP.
microphone and earpiece? you know what I'm getting at...
That's the phone right there! swap out the sim card if you need a smaller phone.
when i had my iphone i rarely kept it in my pocket.
i can't wait to surf the web or watch a movie on this while on the crapper!
iPad who? Very nice... very nice.
DELL MINI 5/STREAK TABLET estimated priceing..
300$-550$
Around 300 if they allow on one to just wifi and the other to use the 3g speeds
would be around 500 dollars. But if they decide to do it another way like for apple Ipad's for at&t. That of
course the Dell Mini 5/Streak is allowed to use a Sims card, GSM Device. It is to be on the At&t network or
T-mobile. If they decide to sell the phone unlocked from other retailers or directly from Dell. Will just
have to see if it bumps up the price alittle bit more. This is my guess of it, we will just have to see.
How in the world could they call it "mini" oO
