Samsung's 3D HDTVs arrive February 26, starting at just under $2,000
Following the company's 2010 Blu-ray player lineup, the first of this year's 3D HDTVs from Samsung are available for preorder at a few internet retailers. The edge-lit LED and 1.1-inch thin C7000 series hits in 40- 46- and 55-inch sizes, with plenty of other features to go along with their 3D and 2D-to-3D conversion abilities. There's access to Samsung Apps & Internet@TV, Skype, AllShare DLNA media streaming, and tweaks that promise to automatically adjust picture and sound for any content source, from a thumb drive to a Blu-ray player. Best pleasant surprise? Price. The UN46B7000 model we reviewed last year started with a $2,999 MSRP (currently down to $1,929 on Amazon), while this year's UN46C7000 (shipping April 16) has a preorder price of $2,599. The 40- and 55-inch versions are similarly priced, at $1,999 and $3,299, respectively, though those necessary 3D glasses are left out of the package as an optional and as yet unpriced accessory that will likely eagerly claim any remaining room in your budget.

Looks sweet... not digging the new stand tho'
pal :)
@coolpal I can't imagine how skype would be of any use on a TV... if the widgets are anything like they are on the A850 or B750 series, you can cross that out of the features list.... they're slow as hell.. my 5 year old phone could probably run them faster.
Also, I hope they improved on the viewing angles a bit.

@coolpal Kinda looks like a Cylon baseship.
@coolpal why can't I reply to any comments here?

patience is a virtue. Im sure the world will be holding its breath waiting to read your comments though.
Life is good, I love how were Rollin , can't wait to put one of these babies in the back seat of my big truck, hey any way to get one of these comped ?
@coolpal
Guess the folks at vivid think differently
@bolezhinkov thank the engadget comment system... I won't get it for the life of me. I swear I had to do this multiple times and it would appear only once, and this time, they were all just delayed.
Apologies...
Wow, so many good movies I'll be able to watch in 3D...
is that an F-15?
@bergwitz
Nope, that would be a F-14D Tomcat. A Navy Plane that was replaced by the F/A-18 Superhornet.
@bergwitz
F-14
@bergwitz
DUDE, the F-14 is the pinnacle of human design achievement. Know it, learn it, love it.
And cry a tear for a lost friend.
I feel the need . . .

Bullsh17 . . . You can be mine!
But when is the 9000 series with the slick remote coming out? :(
@marcussafar
You can actually buy the remote separately for the 8000 and 7000 according to this review
http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1263221153
I like the idea of not paying the extra couple of hundred bucks till the remotes get thoroughly tested, then deciding if I want one or something like a Harmony One.
ummm.. does anyone knw if theres a podcast today?
3D, apps, skype, and it's affordable? Wow!
umm does anyone know if theres a podcast today?
Where did the info about Skype come from.
Skype will only be on Panasonic and LG TVs
@andrewpc1 Skype was listed in the description on Amazon.com pre order page that was up this morning , however I noticed that the TV is no longer listed.

Consumer 3D will and must die. Here is why:

@Oflife
That article made no good points at all.
the stand makes it look like half a cylon basestar
I tipped Engadget on Tuesday about this.
Amazon and Vann's, among others, already have sets up for preorder.
So they require polarized 3d glasses or shutter LED glasses? Polarized 3D glasses makes this an awesome deal. Shutter LED glasses would probably be another $100/ea, which makes this lame.
@(Unverified) The only manufacturer with a polarized TV is JVC.
@RichardLawler LG are meant to be launching their polarised lens 3d tv in April too.
@RichardLawler Don't forget Hyundai. That panel looks like crap.
I wanna see the 8000 and 9000 series tv's before I splurge on one of these..
@TheHeretic
Yeah I have my eye on the 65inch C8000 set myself. If the price is right that is!
r comments on?
As someone recently said to me, 'Watching 3D on a small TV will be like looking into a diorama'. I cannot disagree.
@(Unverified) Since when is 50" small? 50" will dominate a living room in a large city apartment. Its all a matter of seating distance.
@nsfw
some of us have a house not a little apartment.
& seating distance only does so much, you can not turn a little 46" tv to look like a 100" by sitting closer.
@Seemore
So do what I am going to do this summer: BUY A 1080p 3D PROJECTOR!
Nobody is saying you should get a flatscreen TV if you want 3D, in fact I highly discourage it for the exact reason mentioned above.
@nsfw
sorry, 50" is no longer considered "big screen".
Can't wait to see the Panasonic and Samsung plasma 3d pricing.
$3300 for the 55-inch? Isn't Vizio's 3D model going to be almost $1000 cheaper? When is that one coming to market to push down the prices for all the other brands?
@beq
Samsung is better than Vizio. So they cost more.
But these are going to go down in price if you can wait a couple years.
So I have a question regarding the 3-d bluray players from Sony and samsung. Will the 3-d ready dlps that came out a couple years ago with the active shutter glasses work on these as well?
The 40- and 55-inch versions are similarly priced, at $1,999 and $3,299, respectively,
40" / $1999 $49.975 per inch
55" / $3299 $59.98 per inch
pricey
there is 100% price fixing going on in these markets.
@iPaul
What in the hell is "price fixing"
It's a new product and some people will pay more for it. They SHOULD charge more for it now, reap profits, and lower the price as demand for higher priced stuff recedes.
If they fail to do that, they should be sued for breach of fiduciary duty. Making money is the only reason they are making sweet ass TVs.
@iPaul
I am sure there some fixing going on. I read reports from CES 2010 (& a few from the week right before) that 3D would add just $200-300 to the tv (not counting glasses)... but we will never find out & if we do lt will be many years until we find out. How long have (normal) LCD prices been fixed, years & we just find out what was it last summer(?) that price fixing was going on.
