Verizon 'vampire' ad rips off Twilight, sticks it to AT&T
Hey, remember how all the lawsuits got dropped over the holiday period and we thought AT&T and Verizon would finally start to coexist like mature entities engaged in a civilized industry? Yeah, that didn't last very long. Verizon is back with a biting ad campaign that continues poking fun at AT&T's 3G coverage. The consumer is appropriately a vampire, whereas the young maiden keen on being consumed turns out to be... well, it's more fun if we just let you watch it without any more spoilers. Needless to say, it's some of Verizon's funniest work yet. Head on past the break to see it.

@coopere : have you ever received a call on your Verizon phone while actually transferring internet data (and NOT with VOIP)? Because it won't work, and Verizon itself will tell you so. However, what AT&T won't tell you is that their non-3G phones can't do it either. On an EDGE-only phone, if you get a call it will immediately suspend your data traffic until the call is terminated.
@psycros
honestly, at&t adds are pointless while verizon's are humorous and makes a valid point that their 3g network is bigger than at&t's.
What? I frequently see Luke Wilson and his inane comments on AT&T commercials all the time, yet it's rare to see Verizon commercials now, and it's Verizon sticking it to AT&T? Are we taking Apple love and applying it to its provider?
@Evelgest
You don't have to show an ad a lot to get attention for it. See Election 2008.
LMFAO! How clever; very very clever.
If you still think ATT and Luck have been able to top VZ with the ads,
your as slow as a snail.
AT&T has been outplayed every commercial so far. GG Verizon.
That's hilarious! Its great to see big companies get creative with their ads.
AT&T and the girl got PWND!!!
AhaAHhaaa OMFG!!! TOTAL WIN VERIZON! lol
I don't like Verizon but I think their commercials attacking AT&T are hysterical.
Hilarious :)
But where are the sparkles? It can't be considered a proper twilight-parody if the vampires don't sparkle in the sun. Maybe next time...
Thats it I'm switching to Verizon, that add was GREAT
Take THAT Luke Wilson!!
Haha! Very Nice... The 'Big Red' Gum Commercial Parody is still the best though.
i chuckled when i saw this ad last night, very clever. verizon takes a more comical route with their advertisements whereas at&t's ads are just dull and asinine, imo.
COMEDY WINS OVER DOUCHEBAGGERY.
they should tell people that they got charged for 3G but in many areas only get EDGE speed.
@Inspector Gadget80 Verizon has a crapload of 3g coverage. ATT's map doesn't tell you what is 3g and what is EDGE. You are just assuming that all of it is 3g.
I have made my decision. I will stick with AT&T
I've always say that Verizon cares more about teeny boppers...
What's sad is that Ive seen Twilight, and this acting is at least 10x better than the movie!
You'd think they spend more time on improving their network instead of making these bash ads -.-
Funny nonetheless though
@hiddensanctum
Um where the hell do you live!? I have better service with Verizon than I ever had with AT&T so the improvement is the least of their worries, T-Mobile is garbage and worse coverage than AT&T (Half the people I know with T-Mobile want to kick a field goal with their phones) and don't let me get started with SprintPCS aka i'm cheap so I drop it like its hot (calls that is) so I believe you speaking of the wrong carrier.
@Caprice Dates
My comment applies for any carrier. I just feel they spend too much money on ads when they could spend it on lowering rates, getting better phones, improving their infrastructure. If their network is really that great, I don't think its necessary for the to advertise at all. It should be able to speak for itself.
@hiddensanctum I agree on the lowering rates part, but Verizon is actually putting a lot of money towards their LTE network, and they are also now getting a number of good phones. Also, every company (no matter how bad or good it is) spends money on advertising, that's just how it is.
I hate these commercials. Its like a political campaign with a bigger budget. At least it made fun of Twilight. Oh, and did anyone notice the CGI on the wolf was actually better than in Twilight?
It would be cool if Verizon covered AT&T's ETF for people to come over to them.
I don't like AT&T, I'd prefer Verizon, Verizon has made their point, but I don't really feel like "switching" which will cost me about $500 in an ETF and new phone. For $500, I'll stick to the fact that AT&T service only covers where I live and not a state across the country that I never visit anyway, thanks.
Nehh, the best Verizon anti-AT&T commercial is the one with the guy in front of the TV blocking the view. You must see that.
I hope AT&T comes out with a True Blood spoof ad. Verizon: Trying to get people to join your network by using something as terrible as Twilight is not going to work.
This commercial is hella gay reading the engadget comments is almost as bad as reading the YouTube comments of people praising vzw for making a funny commercial I didn't find it funny but why can vzw still be saying AT&T is slow granted there 3G is poor n speeds are slower then what they should be but I have seen it verified time n time again vzw is slower then AT&T if vzw didn't have there large network they would have nothing they would be worse off then sprint
Well with AT&T continuing to throw mud, Verizon will do what everyone else does and fight back. Now can we get someting more innovative in the ads that pushes the border for pete sake? I get the point already, 3g for AT&T sucks but AT&T has the fastest 3g. While Sprint is kicking everyone at the 4g race. Can we just move onto 4g now? Thank you
I'm torn because I hate Twilight, but I love shitting on AT&T's coverage.
att&t needs to drop the baldwin and hire verizon's ad company because they are getting their butts kicked.
this is hilarious and very relevant. Oh and at&t, your coverage may be the fastest.... when you can get any
that was better than the whole series
Great ad... And a strong second to anyone who said that Verizon's advertising department dominates that of AT&T. I think it's safe to say this, as I doubt many teen girls obsessed with Twilight frequent engadget, but does anyone think that any fangirl of Twilight would associate Verizon with "Team Edward" and AT&T with "Team Jacob?" I just think that the wolf at the end will actually lose Verizon a sizeable number of customers.
Remember when vampires were the villains? I don't really care for these stupid Verizon commercials, there are too many of them and they are too deceiving.
It's just like Ford making people think the F150 is the best selling half ton truck by advertising the Ford "F-series" are the best selling trucks. For the record the Chevrolet 1500 is the best selling half ton.
Wow nice one Verizon! They are really jelous that At&t has had the iPhone for 3 years and we are going for 4. They wish they had troubles with their service wheich means At&t servers are overloaded with data = more people. AT&T has good coverage in most cities like New York sf boston houston and more. Who goes to Montana and those other states nobody cares about! I have great 3G when I'm traveling around the sates
Verizon's ad team just keeps running circle's around AT&T's!
