Two PowerBooks spliced into one epic snowboard (video)
We don't know that this requires much more explanation than the title. A couple of rad dudes from the German-speaking parts of Europe have taken up tools against their old titanium PowerBooks G4s and produced the righteous bit of snow-surfing kit you see above. It was done for a competition asking for creative ways to re-utilize old gear, though judging by all the flopping and crashing that ensued in their tests, this isn't exactly useful. See it on video after the break, and if it really catches your fancy, the PowerBook snowboard can be found on eBay, though no one has been mad enough to bid for it yet.

Someone will buy it.
@xfbtmofx yeah... a stupid person would.
Should stripped them down removed the screen casing and used it to extend the board, still would have been plenty strong. Also the screen would be more flexible and it looks like they have a sheet of metal underneath to provide the curve anyway.
They could have actually built something nice out of these instead of this mess!
@xfbtmofx
Now that idea went nowhere.
@xfbtmofx
So what i'm getting out of this is:
Get mac book.
Tape bottle rockets to it.
Call it a space shuttle
and then i can be featured on engadget.
Now THIS is what your Mac was made for!
@GenericMessage As a mac user and fan I found that partially funny.... but not really :)
@GenericMessage
Is that because they are built that tough ;)
@GenericMessage
Better they are used in this fashion than computing.
@xfbtmofx apple geeks will.
@Bublik25 This one won't!
@Jacob Apple Geek Then you must not be hardcore :)
Wait until he finds out it doesn't have a right click...
@(Unverified) ALL MACS HAVE RIGHT CLICK. When will people get that???? It's just on the old powerbooks that you have to press command then click. My MacBook is just two finger tap which is a lot easier and sleeker than two seperate buttons on your clunky PC!
oh so now you say it's command click, eh? ;)
@Jacob Apple Geek
Yeah, 2 buttons are really clunky!
(I own Macs and PCs, I am not trolling for a fight, but 2 buttons is hardly clunky)
Yeah, I wouldn't want to board on that edge :o
Reduce, REUSE, Recycle!
p.s. slow news day engadget?
@dave england
For the thousandth time, blog, not news site. Some people like funny, interesting stories.
I love the description they gave it on ebay.
Well Apple sure built it well!
Poor PowerBooks... Those things had style
PowerBook G4, now runs on SNOW... leopard.
this actually looks like a viral plug for some Asus laptops), but those laptops actually hold up pretty darn well. In terms of structural integrity, it looks like you can actually snowboard with an old PowerBook. Even if this is just a viral, we'd like to see them try the same thing with the laptops they're hawking in five to ten years.
Oh ja Mein Fuhrer!
@DoctarPeppar Except this is from Austria
@hxczuner
I was joking.
@hxczuner
and where is the führer from? Austria.
Best use ever of a mac.
@yaksplat
ROFL best comment ever.
Stop complaining about the Mac tax. Look, Apple just saved you $500 on that new snowboard you wanted!
Am I the only one thinking of 2x10 iPads for a surfboard?
@TheCrusher Yes.
