Very nice, although now that I've got my phone rooted with Bugless Beast ROM installed, I don't care too much about the official 2.1. In fact, the only thing I want is a native multitouch browser, since the Milestone browser lags a little bit on the Droid.
I just installed the 2.1 build of Bugless Beast that is based off of this update. There is officially no reason to wait for the OTA 2.1. Seriously none. So far, this thing is rock solid, install went well, and everything just works. This has more than what the official OTA update will, but can be overclocked, does have 5 homescreens, the excellent G1 IM app (the Market has no real good IM app besides AIM), Live Wallpapers, and Wireless Tethering can be installed too, turning this into a free mobile hotspot.
@DJ When you root your phone does it void your warranty? Is there any way to go back so that you can have your warranty back if it does void it? I have played with the Droid and LOVE it, but right now I have an Omnia and love being able to flash to whatever I want, and know that I can flash it back and still have my warranty.
Technically yes it does, but you can easily restore the phone to straight stock with no root access, no custom ROM, etc. If you're interested I would go to droidforums.net and read their forums, there's a few easy to follow threads on it showing step by step how to root and install custom ROMs. Or if you don't feel like installing it from scratch Google Droidmod. They have an app DMUpdater that will from the stock ROM install root access, install the custom recovery so you can easily install custom ROMs or go back to stock, and install Droidmod which is an excellent ROM as well. It is pretty much fail proof. Of course your results can vary and you can easily brick your phone so I would definitely research it before you start.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

Besides that, meh.
