Just because Apple's store is down, doesn't mean Amazon isn't allowed to show a page with an Apple product on...
Automatic graphic switching? Didn't other companies do that already? Do you mean that *gulp* Apple is not going to innovate in this field? Worse, are they copying something from other companies? But every other Apple fanboi told me otherwise!
Probably a misspelling has been spotted, this is a very common reason why websites would fully shutdown.

It's just the iPad preorder. Nothing important, there's no need to guess. Remember the last time the Apple Store went down? Speculation ran rampant, until it was revealed that Apple just updated some software no one gave a **** about.
Actually alot of people did.
@DJ It's getting kinda annoying - Apple does this purely as a marketing trick to get all the fanboys wetting themselves. Unless their e-commerce software is so terrible they have to take the site offline to make changes.

@r3loaded obviously. but anticipation is fun for some people! i don't see why it would possibly annoy you. It seems like you don't really care for Apple products so it should be pretty easy to ignore.

Obviously no one was a little bit of hyperbole, but the majority of people weren't sitting around waiting for this updated software. It was something that Apple could have updated silently on the site and put out a press release.

Speak for yourself. Aperture is much more important to me than new hardware so the announcement of Aperture 3 was excellent news.

Wow, can't believe I got downranked for that. I wasn't even commenting on the iPad itself (which I am actually kind of coming around on) just the frenzy that rises whenever Apple does anything, and the crazy rumors that it spawns.
Engadget posted a story filled with Apple speculation even though it was known that they were starting the preorders today. The typical frenzy started, I said this is nothing except the iPad preorder and people need to calm down, I was proven right, I get downranked.

Looks like their page is back up. Wow, a magical launch page for the iPad, where I can watch a keynote video, an advertisement, and read specs we all already knew.

We don't need to wonder if they can perform updates while the site was up. Any web store that's written halfway intelligently can add items without going down. They just do it for the free publicity.
