Joystiq and Sony VP Scott Rohde talk PlayStation Move
So, we brought you along for the big reveal and some playtesting, and even presented you with this handy guide just in case you had any more questions. You still haven't got enough of Sony's new motion controller? You're going to want to hop on over to Joystiq for an enjoyable interview with Sony Worldwide Studios VP Scott Rohde where he gets down to brass tacks and answers questions involving the ins and outs of Move game distro, whether the preponderance of "shovelware" mini-game collections will help or hurt the platform, and the fate of the DualShock controller. It's a wild ride, indeed. So why are you still here?

I guess people have different views on this thing, just like how the Wii was back in 2006
Can you carry that thing around on Halloween, so you don't get hit by cars?
@traceroute Either that or you can use two of them to guide airplanes into the terminals ;-)
@aubreyq
hahaha *rubs hands* EXCELLENT!
@traceroute
so tired of this stuff...

Am I the only one who thought it looked like a vibrator at a quick first glance?
... >_
@nemein nou
@nemein
Absolutely not. My first thought was "Wow, that looks just like..."
think of it as a Wii with great graphics :D
@JustThatNerdyGuy:
And a sex toy. Rockstar games is gonna love this.
Thing looks pretty sweet... Good thing they Didnt keep the old design which looked like a vibrator :D
I hope the next PolyStation comes with a motion controller.
LOL
This should compliment your Vajazzling!
Where's that nintendo lawsuit at?
@Mtmrob
It's too bad the lawsuit would have no effect, since, you know, it's completely different.
@Vman What you mean a motion controller with buttons and an attachment with a joystick because the first thing lacks that and more buttons? /s
Am I the only one who is concerned over the fact that peripheral add-ons historically don't do jack shit in the video game market place? With the exception of the Wii Fit, I can't think of a single other peripheral that has truly expanded a console's user base. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough, but I see this controller as something they should include with the PlayStation 4 (along with a Dualshock). Yes, I'll probably buy one, but I'm a video game whore and buy everything, not like most of the rest of the world.
@RyanLN You make a great point, the same thing happened with the eyetoy. Quite frankly I don't think add-on peripherals will ever be widely used... That doesn't take away from the fact though that they can be pretty awesome.
@RyanLN
But the thing is, the motion-based play has already proven itself, and is extremely lucrative. If you look at the peripherals you may be referring to, they might have been completely new or at least thus far unproven methods of gaming. The Wii has already shown both the industry and the consumer that it's a great idea, so people might be less hesitant to shell out the cash for Move.
That said, I'm not really a huge believer in it right now. I already have my Wii and I feel like it's just Sony playing 'catch up', running right alongside the Xbox. My thought is this: with the PS3 and Xbox playing catch-up to Nintendo in terms of motion-based gameplay, who's to say Nintendo isn't still in a full sprint?
They might announce a completely new console next year to blow both themselves and the competition out of the water. With their current strategies, Sony and Xbox will just have to try to catch up with /that/. Honestly, I look forward to seeing all this unfold.
move will be to game controllers what psp go is to portable gaming.... too expensive at launch so consumer adoption will be very weak. they are picking the wrong economy to launch a premium accessory package like this.
It looks like an enormous...
Wang! pay attention
Yes, but is it compatible with Sony's hot new game "Leap Year Hero"?

The move will never replace the Dual-shock. The Dual-Shock feels good in your hands, is great for playing games, and it has all the motion-control that I need, since I don't like it that much anyways.
On the wii, whenever I get the chance on games like SSBB or Mario Kart Wii, I switch to the Gamecube controller. When will these guys learn that we enjoy playing with classic gaming controllers, since, you know... They work!
Yawn... somebody call me when the PS4 comes out with full backwards compatibility with PS3, 2 and X for under $400 with two included PS Move controllers and I'll buy one. I'd also want to buy a pack of every Final Fantasy game ever made for the PlayStation platform.
I feel like I missed out of FF because stupid Square-Enix put the games on PS. Not like you can blame them, though, with the PS2 being as popular as it was.
If Sony had launched this with the PS3 the Wii would have been a loser from day one. What a shame it took a "Children's TOY" company to innovate.
@iPaul Yeah, it's a shame that the "adult's TOY" company needs to take notes from a "Children's TOY" company.
@scrumtrelescent7 Sony doesn't make toys it's a lot like Apple.
After it goes on sale and Nintendo see the patent of the Motion Sensor their will be more and more law suits. SONY Please don't try to copy off Nintendo just because you can do better. Your games is fine just DON'T COPY OFF NINTENDO, AND YOU CAN DO MORE WITH YOUR EYE TOY SOFTWARE.
@Inspector Gadget80
You know Time Crisis? Yeah...That is what Nintedo did with the Wii.. So Sony is in the clear.
@Inspector Gadget80
Nobody is copying anybody here, motion sensing peripherals for gaming could be thought up by an ape its just whether or not people want it.
Just so you know, Eye Toy on PS2 did exactly what Natal is supposed to do now and you could also hold things in your hands (if i remember correctly) and have on screen response for it.
Sony OWNS gaming.

Sony knows gaming, Playstation has and probably for a very long time will well and truly be the best.
@Inspector Gadget80
Sony isn't really copying Nintendo if they take what Nintendo did and say "Let's show you how it's REALLY done."
If these are not "children toys" then why does it have this ice-cream-scoop-looking thing on it ? That is a horrible looking Sony. What were you thinking?
