Lian Li's PC-T1R Spider case crawls towards a release
Custom computer cases that look like spiders aren't generally the sort of thing that are available to public, but Lian Li's new PC-T1R case is one big exception to the rule, and it's now edged a bit closer to a release. Previously only seen in a teaser video, a nearly final version of the case has now landed in the hands of the folks at techPowerUp, who have provided us with our first hands-on look at it. What's more, the site also says that the case should sell for "around €150" (or just over $200) when it's released, and that it will be available in black in addition to red. Of course, there will be some assembly required -- hit up the link below to see what's in store.

Yeah I know this is petty but don't spiders have 8 legs.
@Federaly Win
Lian Li's PC-T1R Mutilated Spider case (8 year old child not included)
@d0mth0ma5
Catholic priests around the world cancel their order.
@Federaly
Don't cases enclose stuff ? this is open to the air, fingers and cats not a good move.
Where on earth would you even put it with legs that long the whole thing is kinda pointless.
@fourthletter
obviously you aren't rich enough to be worrying what to fill your 250 000 sq ft home with.
@fourthletter
neither am I.
@Federaly Yeah, I know you won but doesn't "petty" have at least one "r"?
I kid i kid.. :P
@Federaly Headcrabs.
@fourthletter It's meant for benchmarking. In the teaser video I think they showed it with liquid nitro being poured on the processor . . . personally, if it were a little more compact, and less expensive, it would be a pretty cool conversation piece.
@Ryan Trevisol It would be a pretty short conversation at that though.
Dude: Thats a pretty ugly pointless case, huh?
Owner: Yup...
@Federaly
"Yeah I know this is petty but don't spiders have 8 legs."
Maybe its a spider pig??
@F C "Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig.
Does whatever a Spider-Pig does.
Can he swing / from a web?
No he *can't*,
cause he's a *pig*.
Look out!
He is the *Spider-Pig*!"
Well that looks stupid case of design over function .
@SmokemeaKipper
Yeah, I think Lian-Li jumped the shark on this one.
@SmokemeaKipper
It's what they mean by mobile computing.
@SmokemeaKipper
It's definitely better looking than those Chenbro X-spider cases from a couple of years back.

Could make your own quite easily with an erector set.
rubbish price for a rubbish case
@Trevsweb Indeed; they seem to have taken the idea of "less is more" to an uninteresting extreme.
does that case have a cover ? or do i have to stare at the motherboard all the time?
@enigma207
If it doesn't, it won't pass FCC.
@beaups I wouldn't be so sure about that since this is sold in the US and would would assume that means it passed the FCC. It has no cover over the motherboard, just a fan and superstructure.

@KAL326
My bad. You can ship a case this way but they would not be able to sell a full system like this. Case doesn't need to pass FCC, system would need to pass FCC. And being open like this, it wouldn't pass EMI/RFI requirements.
I don't think we should be giving computers any more ideas than we already have.
@Cy Starkman
The spider case crawls closer to skynet
The first thought I had was "Headcrab!"
@Ad33b Lol my thoughts exactly
An inside out case! Perfect for the lonely geek who never plans to have pets or kids!
Saw this one @ CeBIT, Lian Li showed some more of these "open" kind of cases (for mATX etc.)
Make it self-aware. >:)
i wanna step on it
Hey get out of here i just cleaned the floors!
I hope Tom Selleck is ready for this.
Q: Is this a benchmark rig?
A: NO
Reply: WTF then....
FFFFFFFFFFFF--
IT'S A REPLICATOR.
@Denji
Indeed

And aren't mini itx cases supposed to be small...
Don't know where I would put it...
@honestgabe
Obviously you mount it on a wall.
Spidercase Spidercase, does whatever a spider can
Hey! What is that headcrab doing with my computer??
What the hell is with open-air machines? There are several good reasons for an enclosed case, including protection, cleanliness, and the controlling of airflow. A motherboard in the open will overheat quicker than a motherboard in a case that can expel hot air more efficiently.
I heard this was developed by Dr. Charles Luther.
