@custmmade But is it unlocked for $450, or just contract-free? I can't seem to find this information anywhere. If it was an unlocked phone for $450, then I would buy one for sure. If it's just contract-free, then that is actually not a good deal at all (why not just buy it for the subsidized price if you're required to go with T-mobile?).
thats actually a good question. im with AT&T right now and i want the HD2. I thought i read somewhere that it would be $450 unlocked. i guess not. looks like im gonna have to take a trip to my local t-mobile store to find out. :/
@custmmade Well, we can hope it is unlocked. Let us know what you find out. I am in South Korea right now, so I can't visit the local T-mobile store :)
"HTC HD2 said to be launching March 24th for $199, no Windows Phone 7 support Mar 10th 2010 7:38PM on Engadget @d0ug im just gonna buy one from australia then cuz i kno that it will work with at&t 3g. heres the article i read a while back ago http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=12415"
What happened? Parents wouldn't give you the money.
@custmmade It's contract-free @ $450. Then you have to call up T-Mobile, tell them you have a contract-free phone, and want it unlocked. Then I've read there's no waiting period so they should give you the PUK code.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Putting my shitty iphone on ebay and then buy the unlocked HD2.......sound like a good plan to me.

@mrtatertot
unlocked essentially means contract free.

Well, for one if you buy it subsidized, you pay an extra $20 per month for the length of the contract.

@mrtatertot the tmob plans are abt 20+ more a month when it is subsidized so its better just to buy unlocked.
@jon
