The Commodore name licensed again for a line of keyboard PCs
We've always had a soft spot for Commodore computers. Compact, economical, and robust for their day, they were ubiquitous throughout the 1980s. Unfortunately, the machine's glory days are long behind it, with little more than some gaming rigs and the tireless work of Ben Heck to keep the flag flying. But all that could change if Barry Altman has his way. As President and CEO of the newly minted Commodore USA, he's spent the better part of a year crawling through the arcane red tape necessary to get the rights to the Commodore name. And now? With any luck, later this year the company's monumental advertising campaign will have had its effect ("something like you've never seen in your life," as Altman described it to us on the phone this afternoon) and you'll be able to have your very own keyboard computer with the Commodore logo slapped on for good measure. Presumably based on the Cybernet ZPC-GX31, the exact configurations and pricing will all be spelled out soon enough. In the meantime, hit the source link to see for yourself. And please, guys -- make us a beige one, will ya?

gonna be some sweet sounds... comin' down...
@HotDogWater ...from the SID chip...

there's the spec list.
Did anybody else notice on their website they clearly advertise the ability to run Mac OS X Snow Leopard from FACTORY DISKS? I sense them going out just as hard as Pystar.
I like it! ;-)
This is the future!! I would have liked the mouse-pad to be on the righthand side though...
I had a Vic 20. It was white, not beige. My friend got a 64 and it was so much better than my Vic 20 it was ridiculous.
Anything in common with "Amiga"?
I mean this one: http://sites.google.com/site/freeamiga/
Let's hope this is not another tragic scam.
@Darkroom the dvd drive is also a cup holder (or at least that's what I always use them for)

Is it April 1st already?
The web site looks bloody awful, and when you google the CEO's phone number it says they're a local mom & pop bathroom furniture company. How do we know he really has the rights to use the commodore name?
@sketman
im pretty sure they don't. I believe they still belong to Commodore Gaming, which although isn't selling computers here in the US, is the license holder and maintainer of the C64 Virtual Console marketplace on the Wii
Skeptical, but interested. :D
Oh, hell yes!
! $? = Profit
If this is under $300, I would totally buy this and run C-64/Amiga emulation.
Put HDMI in it and your set for living rooms.
I think it's just wrong that this is a Windows PC, what with Commodore having fought so hard against the Microsoft juggernaut back in the day.
It's like putting a Chevy-small block in a '64 Mustang. There are just some things you shouldn't do.
Long live the C=64
Long live the Amiga
Long live Commodore... the last of the fun computer companies
Will it play Raid Over Moscow, or Beach head?
Something doesn't seem right here.
1. The picture of the device doesn't have the Commodore logo on it anywhere.
2. Their website is a free subdomain of Citymax.com. Which is one of those template based web design packages.
3. If you go to the site.. the configure page is a direct copy of the Cybernet configure page.
4. The "About us" page is blank!?!
5. Selling OSX on a non Apple product!! (Did they not see the whole Psystar fiasco?)
I am thinking this is just someone stirring the pot. Unfortunately we will probably never see this thing with the C< logo on it.
This is so stupid. What if I want to change the keyboard or something? With this, I'm locked in. No thanks.

Where is the wireless HDMI? This form factor is target primarily for htpc users. A little hint, they are not very fond of cables.
@HemanC You'll need some wireless power then, unless you reckon a battery is going to keep your C2Q 3.00Ghz running for long.
Yeah, but can it play Mail Order Monsters?
This thing can take a Core 2 Quad with 95w tdp. Your poor fingers will burn as they touch the keyboard.
There is not submit button once you've configured your system, and as has been mentioned OS X support? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
This is a hoax.

So, it's a laptop without the screen...way to revive something from the 80s that's no longer relevant today.
Please no one buy this crap. The Commodore name should not be dragged down like this. AROS is an OS that will run on the "Commodore Keyboard" and CommodoreUSA don't even mention it. If you want a Commodore machine jump on ebay and get a Amiga 1200. I have one sitting next to me. Grab hobby machine with so many options to expand. Long live Commodore in our hearts and not the Commodore Keyboard...
Can they please stop gangbanging the corpse of Commodore? I have fond childhood memories related to C-64...
Ubuntu AND Linux! Wowie Yowie!!!!
The perfect computer for AROS/Icaros Desktop!
http://icarosdesktop.org/
Let's just hope they also slap a real Commodore logotype on it and replace the "window"-keys with Commodore keys!
Do you really think that Commodore would hosted this Website on a poor plateform like CityMax (and use Slide to host images)?! Please... ^^
This is just a re-branding of a computer that's been on the market for some time. gklinger in the Lemon64 forums has informed me of this:

I'm a big C= fan (I have a '64, (2) 1541s, a 1702 monitor, and lots of floppies) but I'm not gonna run out and buy something just because it has the C= name on it.
@RenegadeRunner
I always prefered the 6518 Galway myself
This has to be a joke...have you seen that slideshow?
