Sprint to announce 'groundbreaking new device' (HTC Supersonic?) tomorrow
Sprint Premier customers are being treated to a rather tantalizing account alert tonight: "Visit us tomorrow for an exciting announcement about a groundbreaking new device." No other details provided, but if we had to make an educated guess, we'd say all signs are pointing towards HTC's Supersonic, the long-rumored WiMAX smartphone with a 4.3-inch screen and Android 2.1 with Sense UI. A 4G device would certainly fit the billing as "groundbreaking," and we've already heard of plans to unveil the phone at CTIA, which officially kicks off tomorrow. A web chat transcript found on the Sprint Community seems to corroborate, but we can't at this point verify the validity of the screen capture. You can view the entirety of the purported web chat after the break. If we do wake up tomorrow to a shiny, large-screened WiMAX phone, care to take bets on what Sprint CEO Dan Hesse is gonna talk up in his Wednesday keynote?

@davenukem
Now another chat said the groundbreaking new phone was the LG remarq. I told him he must be kidding, I would think of a groundbreaking device as a 4G WiMax Phone like the HTC Supersonic. From that I got the response.
"The HTC Supersonic is not launch it will be launched as soon as possible." Not the best grammar.
@thtguy
This is why I will never believe it when someone says on a blog ''someone told me''
Today, the HTC Supersonic was unveiled.
@williamlau05 technically it still isn't launched. I spoke with 5 different CSRs today 3 on chat. and the last one that I posted further down the thread was the closest saying it wouldn't be released till summer or fall. which still looks like the case. CSR's have very little info
Just wondering how far the 4G towers reach. I live in NJ, which isn't in the 4G area, but I live about 20 minutes from NY without traffic (which, granted, is about 4 hours in real life), so I don't know if I'd be able to access it. It's been a long time since I worried about coverage areas, and can't seem to find a coverage map that doesn't just point out the towers (ignores the range).
So, when you're in a 4G coverage area you will be able to talk on the phone and use the interwebs at the same time right?
Does voice go over 4G a'la WCDMA (GSM) 3G or over CDMA a'la EV-DO 3G?
I guess in practicality it doesn't matter much as long as you can do voice+data at the same time.
YAY, GIMMEEEEE.
latest from Sprint CHAT CSR
Thank you for your patience today. I am currently seeing that we will be launching a HTC Supersonic 4G phone that will work on our 4G network. A schedule date for this phone has been not been released, however it is slated to be added to our current line up of devices by this summer or fall. We are also added the very first Android phone that has Direct Connect Services as well. This phone is scheduled for release as of March 22 2010.
Then for grins I asked about iPhone
His Comment
We are currently unaware of this information at the moment. However there is a slight possibility that the IPhone will be compatible with Sprint Services, however the IPhone may not be added to a line up as the IPhone will not be able to have the Sprint Logo added, as well as the phone is not compatible with the protective insurance that is can be added to all our Sprint Smart phones.
