VS750 confirms LG's love for WinMo Classic, starts torrid new affair with Verizon

Sure, all the talk lately is about Windows Phone 7 Series and all the things it can and can't do. But, in the months between now and its release, companies still have to make money, and so LG has turned to Windows Mobile Classic 6.5 to drive its VS750. We first heard wind of this Verizon-bound machine back in December, and now it's been spied by Mr. Blurrycam over at PhoneArena, apparently due for a mid-April release. The QWERTY slider is intended as a world phone, and its list of wireless support certainly sounds comprehensive: CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev A. 800/1900MHz, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/190MHz and UMTS/HSDPA. Why, it'll even include plug adapters for Europe, Asia, and Australia right out of the box. It's fronted by a 3.2-inch 800 x 480 resistive touchscreen, backed by a 3.2 megapixel camera, sports WiFi and Bluetooth, a microSDHC slot and, if our eyes don't deceive us, its case has more than a passing resemblance to the prototype unveiled on The Engadget Show a few weeks back.

If I'm not mistaken this looks like it might be WP7S capable in the future.
@XChrisX
Not if it has a resistive screen.
@Brickster AHH, truth I read the article in full but missed the part about the screen being resistive. Good call!
It has the right number of buttons, if it had acapacitive screen it could be upgradeable.
the front three buttons seem to be the 3 required WP7 buttons
hhhmmm...
do i stay with verizon and get this or Tmobile with the HD2 when our contract ends in May... hehe HD2 for a while until a decent WP7 comes out
LG supposedly is debuting 30 new phones at CTIA, I'm going to wager that 3 or more will top this, of course at least 20 will be underneath this.
Nearly all LG dumbphones (and some of their smartphones too) have had 3 buttons for a while. Stop the WP7 conspiracy.
good luck. why dont they just call it the 'dead end'...
Another problem: 3.2 inch screen, whereas WP7S requires 800X480 resolution. (for comparison, the Zune HD's 3.3 inch screen is 480X272)
How typical of LG to roll out a phone in 2010 with a resistive touch screen that was outdated even in 2007. Does anyone know if LG even has a phone with a capacitive screen out in the market now?
I'm not a WinMo hater or anything when I say this.....I use the HTC Diamond 2 (Topaz) as my primary phone...Dunno, it may be due to the pic....but would any of you guys agree with me when I say that this is one of the ugliest Windows Mobile devices we've ever seen!! Its a shame considerin its an upcoming device and I guess LG has got a bunch of retards in their Handset design department...
And a resistive screen?? Considerin WP7 is on the way....n considerin, HD2 is as sad as a mom who is sad about her unborn child who just died....why in hell would LG design a WinMo phone with the required 3 buttons n then slap on a resistive panel?? The buttons arent very clear in the pics though...
Ew, the keyboard looks like the droid with that stupid D-pad thing taking up space in the lower right corner. Dumb design. At least they have spaces between the keys though...better than the droid I guess?
@DoctarPeppar The keyboard is designed properly unlike all other devices out today. There is space between the keys. And D-Pad is in a perfect location and spaced nicely unlike on the Droid. And a lot of people do not care about WP7.
So why would anybody buy this knowing WM7 is just around the corner.
@palomosan if they need/want a WM phone...
@Brent1700
Maybe, but I'd only get a WinMo device now with a 1-yr contract. Just sayin'.
@palomosan WM will be a pure garbage from all the write-up that I have seen so far. No micro SD support, no multitasking, no copy and paste. Fuck that!
WHAT'S THE PROCESSOR SPEED ???
Many of us do NOT want WM7.
No removeable memory/battery/memory and no multitasking?
If I wanted a gimped phone, I'd buy an Ipod.
@Nunya Bizness
Where'd you get the 'no removable battery' part?
Looks just like my enV touch....lol
