JooJoo finally shipping?
Do our eyes deceive us? Can it be that JooJoo -- the CrunchPad that wasn't -- has progressed from pre-order status to shipping? Sure seems that way. Two days ahead of the revised March 25th launch date we see that the JooJoo is now taking proper orders for their Ion-based $499 Atom tablet with 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, in the US anyway. So, did anyone get a revised delivery status?

@jon
I should add, I want W7 and a slate form factor. I've tried convertibles, and they're not for me.
@jon The CPU, screen and wireless networking are 3 of the most power consuming internals of laptops/tablets/phones.
I think your combination is just impossible unless they give it a battery as thick and heavy as a brick.
@jon
"This is Linux with a browser shell. It's still Linux underneath, and has Linux's capabilities. "
Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. Your wireless router is also Linux-based, but it doesn't mean it will ever run a real desktop environment.
The JooJoo doesn't have a real OS. Period. You might be able to run one on the hardware by replacing the JooJoo OS with some other Linux-based distribution (which FG may or may not have made easy to do), but that doesn't make what it has a "real" OS in any sense of the word.
@InternetExplorer And how is this more useful than the iPad?
Android would of been a much better choice for an OS for the Joo Joo,
@MosWundrus
I agree compleyely. Android and I'll get one.
@MosWundrus I don't know, it's not better or worse, just different. I also prefer android on the tablet I would buy but this would suit other people needs more. Android is build for smaller screens and this OS for larger screens. We'll have to wait and see what it gives.
So, what if you bought this, and the next day the company went poof? Everybody here talk big on how they wanted this, but I want to see anybody actually buying this thing. :P The only people that would had this are probably only reviewers/tech bloggers with their free demo units.
@pika2000 Indeed. I look forward to the incoming plethora of unboxing and review videos on YouTube.
@jon Well, no :) But be it the Joojoo or another product, I find it ridiculous to have 90 days of warranty on a product from a startup company. There are second-hand shops that sell electronics with 90 days return policy.
@InternetExplorer I look forward to your JooJoo/HP Slate unboxing videos.
@SNESimon And then you have less battery, less warranty, less HDD, no IPS screen, no thousands of applications, etc.
But hey if you need Flash that much go for it.
@jon How is a browser based OS a real OS? And yes, an IPS screen is better.
Also how are you going to use your web apps when you don't have access to the net?
@jon Don't know which products you are talking about, but if we check the 2 other tablets - iPad and HP Slate, they both offer 1 year.
@jon And the iphone OS is OSX based. So? The CPU can run Windows, but good luck installing it and using it with the 5 hour battery (5 hours not for Windows use).
IPS screen is better than many things out there, and people would appreciate it on a media device (photos, movies etc.)
Docs may have offline mode, but how many other applications would have that?
As you say functionality may be added, maybe this thing can use Android (which will definitely make it much more interesting), but I don't see all this support coming from a small company like that. You can of course tweak it yourself, but then the Slate would be a better choice. Or we can talk about jailbreaking the iPad and start another comparison all over again. From the specs and info I see, the iPad and the Slate are clearly more useful.
@jon Yes, but the Joojoo isn't competing with microwaves, right? It competes with the iPad and the Slate. And again, they have 1 year warranty.
Due for delivery 4/12/2010.
Oh no joo didn't!
I really dislike the name of this device..JooJoo?..if i own one i would shame to tell my friends that i own a joo joo haha
jj.. hm... sorry but it's funny .. jj or joo joo, mo joo, blow joo .. i know i know im bad :)
and jj does means something naughty haha
Ok. Now that the losers are done posting irrelevant comments. I've tried to order this all day. I registered. Clicked order filled in my billing address. Filled out the captcha. Then it goes to a screen with the side of the unit on a green background with two options: "contact us" and a green highlighted "buy it". When I click Buy It it takes me back to the order screen (the screen shot pictured on this article). I've tried this 7 times all day with the same looped effect. How the joojoo do you order this?
@fumjum
Congrats, you're getting 7 joojoos.
@fumjum I am having the same experience here. I have tried to order several times over the past few days from the JooJoo website, but upon entering my shipping address, it takes me to a green picture of the joojoo, and a Buy Now button that takes you back to the shopping cart.
Whats wrong?? Why hasnt JooJoo fixed their website?
@fumjum When you register on the website, under "My Profile" a message appears that says "Could not connect to PayPal" as well...
How do I order this? I've tried several rimes today to place an order and after I register, fill my billing info including a captcha, and click buy it highlighted in green it returns me to the cart view page that is pictured in this article. An endless loop and no order.
No. I clicked the "my orders" page and itsays I haven't placed any orders and I never entered bank info or anything.

Information from Earth indicates that the ambiguous device, JooJoo, will be shipping in the near future.
This is one nice looking tablet but the lack of a real internal HD and the flakiness of the company are the drawbacks.
Screw this, those Tegra 2 based tablets that are coming out (specifically Notion Ink's Adam) are going to blow the pants off this thing.

• Android ✓
• 1080p hardware decoding ✓
• Pixel Qi screen ✓✓✓✓✓✓
@jon If I am not wrong HP gives one year warranty about their products. I think people care about the warranty especially when paying 500 and more dollars. My point with the warranty is, as I stated somewhere above, that 90 days for a device that comes from a startup sounds bad.
"and this [Slate] isn't really competing with the iPad, no matter how much FG might want it to."
Well you compared the Joojoo to the iPad first so I decided to include the Slate. Both the Slate and the iPad look more promising to me than the Joojoo.
A what what? This is a name? A name for a device? This is a name that people got around a conference table and decided on? And people are suppose to take this seriously? Fools.
Looking forward to reviews and impressions.
Did the PooPoo ship yet?
Has anyone received their joojoo yet? I'm waiting on an unboxing/full teardown before I place my order.
^ same here, waiting for a joojoo review before I place my order.
OMG!!! It has Adobe Flash!!!!
