PlayStation Move bonus round: Move Party hands-on and interview with Anton Mikhailov
Alright, so you've seen the PlayStation Move insanity from the Engadget Show, but we've got a little extra treat for you. After the show we were able to play through a game of Move Party with Sony's own Anton Mikhailov, who actually coded a lot of the tech demos we saw during the show (some of them the night before!). After getting thrashed by him in mini game competition we were able to have a quick chat with Anton where we expressed our undying love for what he does for a living, learned the difficulties (but potential gold mine) of hacking the controller for use with a PC, and found out what sort of games he'd like to see built with this technology he's had a hand in creating. It's not to be missed; check out both videos after the break.
Big thanks to the guys at Gadling's Travel Talk for the video work!

It's all about Natal!
Move fails!
@derviskemal umm neither are out yet, buddy. I don't think anyone can make that judgement at this point. Lets let the adults discuss.
@derviskemal I can already tell what this thread is going to be: trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls.
I was actually joking guys! I own both consoles but can see how I was trolling.. and for this.. I apologise.
Although I do dislike the light up dildo!
@derviskemal
Move, Natal, and Wii are all great advancements for gaming. I'm excited to see how all three of these are incorporated into the next generation of gaming. Move along with the powerful graphics of the PS3 is something that I'm very interested in trying.
@derviskemal
Now thats a hardcore fanboy!! He somehow knows natal is better even though, NETHER are out.
Simply Amazing!!
Sorry guys but I just can't shake the Sony sex toy image of this thing. They really should've given a bit more thought to this thing, because right now it looks like something you shove into your wife's tubes.
@Mister Warmth
I have more respect for my wife that to talk about her like that.
I for one can't wait until I can play a PS move Star Wars game, I could be Obi Wan and stab myself with my own lightsaber
Amazing :)
As cool as this is, I just can't get past the look of the controllers. Sorry, but waving bright glowing balls around is not my idea of gaming.
@Lord Vader
-1 You bore me now.
I hate the fact that most of the embedded videos will not load when using the iPhone engadget app. Some do most don't.
@JimmyBoy
If only you had Flash...
@Kamalot Ohhh screwed by lack of flash again.
@JimmyBoy Correcting, Lack of a proper phone...
Loving Skyfire on my Symbian phone :)
@sweet greggo Just what we need video game suicides -42.5
I've noticed in all these videos since the announcement no one is't using the wrist strap, it's like Wii has taught people nothing...
PS3 need to release some AO game to make this controller actually useful.
I can definitely see kids forcing their parents into this purchase by throwing temper tantrums.
cant wait to see how useful this is for the hardcore in me. I will pick one up anyway just for sh!ts and giggles.
Very cool. cant wait
Anton is living the dream.
OMG why does that controller look my pink dildo?
@ashleythehottiest It does look a little phallic! You got me SOLD!
@ashleythehottiest
your dildo has a sphere on the end? sounds uncomfortable. in any case, please let the adults discuss this.
This looked like it had some potential. It is a tech demo for crying out loud. Its something thrown together.
Its not like the games demoed for Natal have been any deeper. Its about simple mechanics at first and then something more complicated for release and later.
How would you feel if a person cut off your legs and one of your arms and burned you in lava? Don't tell me you wouldn't think about killing him
What I'm hoping to see is a revamp of the browser that has intuitive controls based around Move. Then I'd actually use the PS3's browser.
Really? Flash video? Really engadget? Really iPod? Really?
its a wii in HD... boring
Call of duty + Move = the best.... Too bad I own a Xbox 360 and I got the 3 ring of death now...
Yeah awesome that it's bluetooth. I don't buy his spiel about not being able to do the colour tracking on a PC. It looks like one of the simplest computer-vision tasks possible!
I hate Sith Lords.
Whenever I watch these Sony guys I always feel as though they're really embarrassed about showing this stuff off. It's as though they're just waiting for someone to shout out, "RIP OFF!"
@macmann
i was at the engadget show and if you guys watch the vid you will learn a little history about this tech and that sony did not want to come out with it because they felt is was not complete.. they had this before nintendo wii even came out (dont know whos R&D had it first though)... not to mention sony dabbled with the company MS bought for natals implementation. Sony thought no controller gaming was not viable because you would have a very limited experience. As a result waited till they can make the controls more precise and functional to work with not just casual games but hardcore as well.
@macmann
That's because they're tech demos. They're not meant to be played, they're meant for various other things. Also, you've got to remember that this is the games for PlayStation Move are all pre-alpha. Sony know they've got to start marketing the Move now to get hype up but for the moment they're having to make do with tech demos and incomplete concepts and games. I'd expect to see some more stuff closer to launch which is a lot more polished.
@newjaruz
lol every company always claims this when they are showing something an incredibly similar product. Did they also have designs for the controllers that are near identical to the remote and nunchuck already? They even copied the marketing photos. It was rather shameless if you ask me.
Watching now.
@Lord Vader Don't you know your own life history? It's not obi's fault you went to the darkside because of your selfish greed for Power!!!
/nerd
He was the evil one, I remained faithful to the republic
@sweet greggo You do not understand the power of the dark side.
@Lord Vader
+1 for staying in character
Anton is awesome
@Lubing The Tube
+1 x2 for Lord Vader
You never cease to crack me up!
@Lord Vader
the thought of vader being really passive aggressive in his spare time amuses me greatly +1
Nintendo did this a longgg time ago. Remember Duck Hunt?
Man, seriously, Anton rocks. Every time he presents this product/tech he does so in such a smart but relatable, non-BS way. It probably helps that he isn't some middle aged guy in a suit, or some guy with sunglasses and Ed Hardy gear. Promote this guy.
i try my best not to speak too much good of the ps3(since i only have a 360 and can't afford the ps3) or anything involving it, but for some reason i find Anton Mikhailov to be the coolest guy of today!
too much lag,too much messing with the gameplay flow i mean come on sub controller,wtf,i am going to sit back and watch both ms and sony get it wrong ,this is version 1 we wont have this working right for a few years yet,we have to wait for version 4 or something,i hope i am wrong as gaming really does need something new needs to evolve ,But chances of ether of em getting it right is not good,I hope i am wrong tho i really do as it means uber gaming but,,,,
