Nokia N8-00 gets first official mention with Symbian^3 and nHD display
Simmer down, we don't have official pics yet (just the supposed leaks) but we do have the first official mention of what looks to be Nokia's first Symbian^3 handset. The culprit is the "NN8-00r100-3G" XML file sitting pretty on nokia.com right now. The first notables are a "N8-00" model and the "Symbian/3" string listed in the agent header that seemingly confirm that the N8-00 will run Symbian^3. Next is a "360 x 640 pixel" screen size. Note that the N8-00 display is rumored to be 3.5-inches making this a very similar nHD display to the one found on Nokia's current N-series flagship: the N97. The difference this time is that we're expecting Nokia's newest flagship to opt for a capacitive touchscreen display to match Symbian^3's more finger friendly UI. Unfortunately, we're not seeing any mention of the rumored 12 megapixel camera and the only keyboard mentioned is a "PhoneKeyPad" -- in other words, no QWERTY not that we were expecting one. We do see Bluetooth 2.0 and radios for WiFi and GPRS/EGPRS/EDGE/WCDMA/HSDPA among the other details. Feel free to sleuth the file for yourselves in the source link below while we wait for the mid-April announcement.

I would prefer a 5 mp camera w. good optics. Better pictures and smaller files. Only the digi cams w. best optics can utilize the 12mp chips., no current phone can even take the full advantage of 5mp camera.
@SGTPP That's true, but for SE, Samsung and Nokia the megapixel count have always meant for better camera. Not really because it's 12mpx or 8mpx, but they need the branding because that's the way people will "know" that's the camera phone to get. SE, Samsung and Nokia have been THE camera phone manufacturers since the start.
@SGTPP
BTW, Symbian will always allow you to select the resolution you want to shoot your pictures in. So if you don't want to shoot 12MP pics with larger file size, you can always select lower resolution for smaller file size.
That's the beauty of customization in symbian, which you don't find in some other poplular OS(es).
I think this is going to be a very important device for Nokia, and one that will be able to compete with the best of them.
From what I know of Symbian^3 and the effort Nokia put into this, its going to be a killer device.
Sweet.
I'm really looking for this one. N900 is nice, but this one got a feel that have been missing pretty much since N82 from Nokia's very high end.
I wonder how it will be priced. N900 have been aggressive about the price here in Europe. With 450 euros price this would a true winner and huge seller.
Hooray, XML!
Hopefully it comes out in end of Q2 or very early Q3.
I do not think I could even find 15 worthwhile symbian apps, let alone wanting to run them at once
@marmaduke yea I know, no fart apps etc.
@marmaduke
"I do not think I could even find 15 worthwhile symbian apps, let alone wanting to run them at once "
That's because you are of us regular users, and all Nokia phones come with preinstalled apps for daily use.
Why finding 15 apps just because you have to?
@summerboy18, nobody, except those 44% of smartphone users out there, Nokia shareholders and tech geeks...
Americans, wake up! No one cares about iPhone here in middle-east. People always trust nokia here and we buy our phones full price. So, for us, symbian holds great importance
I hope the camera features are true, im inclining to believe that they are
Can't wait to find out
