MSI Wind U250 receives Energy Star leaked status
Well, here's a bit of a surprise. Not only have the folks behind the ever-present Energy Star label revealed the existence of a previously unheard of MSI Wind U250, but they've been kind enough to provide some details on the device as well. Apparently a convertible laptop (or some other form of notebook / tablet), the U250 will pack a dual-core, 2.6GHz processor of some sort, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and a video card with 512MB of dedicated memory -- all for a list price of $600. Unfortunately, while Energy Star lists a release date of March 15th for the device (hence the appearance on its site, presumably), that has obviously come and gone without so much as a peep from MSI about this particular model.

Convertible laptop? Interested to hear more.
Is this the same EnergyStar that approved a fake gasoline powered alarm clock because it didn't use any electricity?
And now Engadget is relying on them as a reliable source? Stick to the USPTO.

@psyopper My sentiments exactly. Energy Star labeling is a scam and we're just finding out about it. Companies submit their own figures and we should just believe that?
2.6 GHz? since when did we start adding core speeds together? :P
@MegaWatts
Quite the typo. I hope the author simply made a mistake, not a misinterpretation and this isn't an honest reflection of his tech knowledge.
Definitely a 1.3 GHz dual core. If I had to guess, it's the SU7300 and a GT210M.
@Hung
it's the new amd platform. see:
http://www.liliputing.com/2010/03/msi-wind-u250-notebook-to-feature-dual-core-amd-neo-processor.html
nile or something like that, looks pretty interesting, definitely blurring the line between netbook and notebook.
@Wildman
Oh, nice. Is it the same Neo as on the X100e? I considered it for a long time, but apparently the extra speed doesn't justify the heat excess and power consumption. Loved the keyboard, except for Fn placement, of course.
@Hung
no. 15w tdp for the single core mv40 in x100e
12w tdp for this dual-core x325
and the new n450 atom is 5.5w, just for reference
@Hung
dude this is engadget, for some of the editors it is a reflection of their tech knowledge
@MegaWatts
Jeez Donald/Engadget, that's just embarrassing.... I know we can't edit OUR text but you CAN edit YOURS!
Hmmm Speed of each core = 1.3GHz. Dual Core? Must be a 2.6GHz processor. Lolls like maths revision for someone!!
@Duggie264
Good one.
still waiting for the new round of laptops damn it, they are taking too long
March 15, 2011? jk.
That Liliputing link also helpfully adds "Energy Star describes a number of existing MSI notebooks as notebook/tablet, even though those models are already on the streets and quite clearly ship without a touchscreen.".
So it's very likely just a laptop :-(
A shame Engadget can not match their levels of journalism.
