HP Envy 15 shipping for $950 after rebate
We know that you really had your heart set on that 14-inch Envy, but until they finally arrive from Shangri-La, the "mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains" (the same place whose Apple Stores stock the iPhone nano, incidentally) might we offer you a cut-rate 15-inch model as a consolation prize? As brought to our attention by the savvy shoppers at I4U News, the company is currently offering a $450 rebate on your next HP Envy 15 Core i5 (2.26GHz) lappy. And what's more, your $950 sale price includes shipping -- and not on the back of a unicorn, either. Just head on over to the HP store (hit the coverage link), throw in a 640GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive (you have to do this part -- it'll bring your total up to $1,399 and make you eligible for the free shipping) and apply coupon code NBMY33241 at checkout.

Nice. I like the graphics card in this thing.
@einhanderkiller and i5 =]
@einhanderkiller I would avoid this.
Mine has overheated once already and I've had it for just a week. It also has driver issues with the webcam that need two reboots to fix it if the issue manifests itself. I've run into this bit twice.
I'm not a happy camper so far.
@einhanderkiller Then again, mine is a Core i7, but all the other specs are the same.
@einhanderkiller
The graphics card is great but that 1366x768 resolution is a crime. Instead of spending $100 to upgrade to a 640GB hardrive I think it'd be better to spend $75 upgrading to the 1920x1080 screen and $50 upgrading to a 500GB hardrive. You'd still come in under a grand after the rebate and now you'd have a large HD and maximum resolution screen.
I'm assuming most readers that are looking for a laptop would do the same thing I did and look through all the options instead of just adding a bigger HD and clicking buy.
@l3admonky
can anyone verify the coupon is used up? it's not letting me add it anymore.. :(
damn you craigslist... I was trying to do a quick sell on my lappy to get this one
@einhanderkiller
Agreed, great graphics. But wait, does this thing really have a "turbo"?! I haven't seen that since like 1995 on my DX266. First day I was like, "screw that," turned it on and left it on (orange light be damned). Why would any computer need a "turbo"?
@l3admonky
Dude I just bought a Dell Studio XPS 16!
I've returned the first one /w i7 (XPS 1645) and got a new one (XPS 1647 /w i5)
Total cost is nearly $2k for a weak laptop, with an aging GPU, and a well known and documented CPU/GPU throttling problem that Dell has yet to fix.
However, it is the best laptop in it's segment. Though I feel mostly ripped off. The only saving grace the Studio XPS has is that RGBLED screen. Also the styling :3
Amazing , cheaper Mac Book is even more affordable :D
@HellFlyer
Yeah and a lot slower and pretty much obsolete since Apple hasn't updated them in quite some time now.
Care to do research or compare benchmarks?
@HellFlyer

@DoctarPeppar
If you care to do even more research you would know that HP Envy is often compared to Mac Book because of its design. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. What I mean is that for a better prize you are getting much better device COMPARED to Mac Books
@HellFlyer
Prize? English...do u speak it!?
@DoctarPeppar RACIST JERK , look at your username first
Pretty significant saving, shame not the same on the other side of the pond.
@Almo Was already ordering, till i came to shipping... Went to Dutch web site, what a (bad) joke that is. Shows where HP are making the money (and want to keep it that way). After all, how big is the european market? (end of sarcasm)
Does it at least come with a jar of unicorn mayo?
really tempted to jump on this...
Man I just bought that black adamo for $999 last month and am wishing I bought this instead. Not that I don't like the adamo... but it has no i5 processor :(
Well that's technology for ya.
@bob e
You can't even compare the two, the Adamo is a CULV laptop, with an ULV processor and integrated graphics chips. The expense is similar because of the ULV chips that add more battery life for minimal performance loss.
I have 14" envy.
@THJ
I bet you do! XD
@shadowj0
good one
@THJ
I don't.
;)
@THJ
As in you envy my 14 inch wang.
This or m15x for a few bones more?
@NukeAssault
they arent even comparable. The M15x is like 9 pounds.
..and the news macbookpro sleep
Just noticed there is also 5% Bing Cashback making the net price just $902.00
@bob e - Gotta love Bing Cashback!
@bob e pretty sure the coupon discount would invalidate any cashback
@snohman
Well if the coupon code is listed on FatWallet's cashback page, then their CB would still be in effect :) I believe it's only 3% though
@MRCUR
how does it work?
Hmm, the screen resolution for a 15" seems rather low. I have a 1440x900 on a 12" (lenovo). That and the HDD needs to be upgraded.
@Decel Ya no kidding. First thing I thought was my netbook has a higher res screen than that.
@Decel Why not upgrade the Display to full HD for a mere 75 USD + upgrade to a 500 GB 7200 RPM instead of slower 640GB? That way you surpass the 1399 USD mark (1424 USD) and may use the rebate.
Much better option than just simply grabbing a slow hard drive.
@Decel I'm so sick of a screen being a deal breaker. Anything that wants to play games should have a good screen, then movies just get a bigger plus. If I can't entertain myself, then I'll just have a rig and something portable and cheap.
@Decel OOp, I feel for it. $75 or $100 options to go 1080. I gotta find a friend who wants to come visit me with this in tow.
@juanvaldez feel=fell
1366x768 on a 15" screen? Makes this a useless machine, except for the blind.
@jonyah Well, then add the 1080p screen. :)
@jonyah
It's like you've never heard of contrast ratios before.
I'm using a 15" laptop right now with the same resolution. I wouldn't mind a 1440x900, but 1366x768 is nothing horrible at 15" or less. So long as the contrast ratio is good.
@Prevacator
I don't know what contrast ratio has to do with it, but yeah 1366x768 isn't that bad on a 15.6" screen. It's just like 1280x800 streched out a bit.
@Prevacator Ya sorry Prevactor, you clearly have no clue what you're talking about. Resolution is extremely important when it comes to laptops. A 15" screen with this resolution is the cheapest of the cheap. Your total desktop space is minuscule. If you do nothing but read email and surf the web, it may be ok, but for real work it's a pain.
1280x800 on a 13" screen is even too low. Lenovo's 1440x900 on 13" is nice. 1680x1050 on 14" and 1900x1080 on 15" is the sweetspot. Anything less just won't work. Some day these manufacturers will realize people aren't all blind.
umm theres an identical laptop at frys other than the video card for 800 less or 300 less vs. the discount
with1600x900 resolution
1366 res SERIOUSLY? and I thought that res on a 13"macbook was horrid... ugh... I was really wanting this but it's going to be all pixelated >_>
@Narkiss which is why for $100 you upgrade to the 1900x1080 display - which also gets you to qualify for the coupon. dont forget to add in an external optical drive (hope lot of people don't miss that small fact)
@snohman
who uses disks anymore?
