HP Envy 15 shipping for $950 after rebate
We know that you really had your heart set on that 14-inch Envy, but until they finally arrive from Shangri-La, the "mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains" (the same place whose Apple Stores stock the iPhone nano, incidentally) might we offer you a cut-rate 15-inch model as a consolation prize? As brought to our attention by the savvy shoppers at I4U News, the company is currently offering a $450 rebate on your next HP Envy 15 Core i5 (2.26GHz) lappy. And what's more, your $950 sale price includes shipping -- and not on the back of a unicorn, either. Just head on over to the HP store (hit the coverage link), throw in a 640GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive (you have to do this part -- it'll bring your total up to $1,399 and make you eligible for the free shipping) and apply coupon code NBMY33241 at checkout.

Why is everyone yelling about the screen resolution? I'm on an HP HDX with the same 1366x768 resolution and nothing is "pixelated." It's a nice 16:9 720p resolution. not to mention that when you connect it tthough HDMI, it automatically upconverts to full 1080. I love the screen. No black bars while watching Blu-ray 720p movies.
@webran61
No kidding its not pixelated, that's not the issue. You get pixelation when you screen is trying to show a higher resolution then the source material, in this case you are doing the opposite if trying to view 1080p material.
Believe it or not people use laptops for more then watching movies. On a 15.6" screen that low of a resolution is ridiculous, a total waste of screen space. Try working on a spreadsheet with a 1366 x 768 screen and then a 1920x1080 screen, after that you will know why the standard resolution on this laptop sucks.
"We know that you really had your heart set on that 14-inch Envy"
Fuck that shit, I'm waiting for the 17" one. Maybe that one will have extra cooling so putting an i7 in it doesn't turn it into a damn oven.
I bought this two months ago for about $1200 with the HD screen, i7 and 320GB drive. This is a very good deal on this laptop. Fast as lightning, USB 3.0, great graphics, and as portable as a MBP (except a bit wider). Snatch this up quick!
Ah very nice! didn't realize anything +$100 works. MUCH rather have 1920x1080 screen than a measly extra 180gb hdd.
Very tempting but the low battery-life and lack of switchable graphics still makes this a flawed system for me
@RobARichardson
Yeah that is the ONLY thing holding the Envy 15 back. Switchable graphics would be great.
So I purchased this with the 640 GB upgrade, and then realized that the 1080x1080 and a 500 GB would probably be a better choice.
I called HP and they said they could cancel my original and let me place a new order.......
OR they would give me an additional $90.00 off of my original order.
SO after all said and done I got this for $916.99 with taxes!!!
GREAT DEAL!!!
MacBook styling cues without the extra effort of replacing OSX with Windows 7 - excellent deal.
I have one with the i5 540M 320GB HDD matte 1920x1080 and the optional external drive. First thing you should do is re-install W7. After windows finishes indexing the HDD everything runs very cool at idle. I am even running folding@home right now and both palm rests are barely above cold. When I game on it I either have a cooling pad underneath or it is on a table so the gaming heat is a non-issue.
The only thing I wish I did was get the dual intel SSDs for a mad deal of $500. Even if you just want one you could sell the other on ebay for the same price you paid for both from HP.
This notebook has really grown on me since I got it and its awesome having basically an 8800GT in my laptop (after OC 550 core 1150 mem).
I got mine when they first were announced at CES for ~$1200
"Get you one!!!" -Scooter, Borderlands Catch-a-Ride
Of course, I just bought mine 2 weeks ago! Fortunately I found a $300 rebate code, but with the $450 code I could have upgraded the processor 2 steps for about the same price.
This laptop isn't perfect, but it's definitely the best on the market for my needs. The 1080p anti-glare screen is great, it makes me mad that you can't find this quality of screen in hardly any other computer. The build quality is excellent. It does get a bit hot, but nothing too crazy. The short battery life and no optical drive are a shame, but I'm willing to give them up to keep this thing as thin and light as it is.
@brett maxwell
Did you get the i5 or the i7, i went with the i5 hoping that would reduce the heat issue. I can't wait to get it 5-7 days!
@brett maxwell
Call up HP and they should refund you the difference. If they don't, threaten to return your laptop and reorder!
damn, is the coupon already used up.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
"The coupon you entered is invalid."
just used the code, Thanks. I did, however, have to create a new HP account for it work.
$950 for a laptop without an optical drive is turn-off for me atleast, I don't know how the rest of you feel about this.
