PlayStation Move sub-controller hits FCC, will be named Navigation Controller
Wondering what Sony's going to call that PlayStation Move sub-controller -- you know, since "nunchuk" is already taken? Wonder no more. Sony part number CECH-ZCS1U just hit the FCC's database, and "Navigation Controller" is written in nice bold letters right there on the label. It's looking like this is official, as the Sony US website has been quietly updated with the change, and we think it makes a certain amount of sense, as most 3D games let you aim the camera with your dominant hand and relegate navigation to the other. Like the Motion Controller, Sony's opted for confidentiality on this one, meaning we won't have photos of the controller's juicy guts for six months, but hey, at least you already know what the outsides look like -- and you can see it in action on the Engadget Show right here.

Still not too excited about this one. It just looks like an updated Wii controller.
@maddawg579
And why is this "Breaking"?
@maddawg579
because its a NAVIGATION CONTROLLER! thats why.
Thats cool.
Hopefully it will be as cool as it looks, can't wait to try it out!
@Petfiji
That's what she said
@seanGadget
ehh...that was kinda lukewarm.
Good Try though!
@Petfiji Now that's what she said!
@Petfiji
And the critic gets played..
Nunchuks have wires, it would be a bad name for this sub-controller anyways!
Slow news day for the gadget world I guess. How's everybody doing tonight?
Navigation Controller?
Can I hold it as wheel when I am driving?
Well, it's better than sub controller at least; but not by much.
I think it's stupid how the subcontroller doesn't get tracked by the camera too... I hate the whole two move controllers or controller + subcontroller. Just put the glowing thing on the subcontroller and have one option...
@pk
well how else would they force you to buy at least 2 Move controllers and a Navigation controller?
@pk Maybe we'll see a third party peripheral that will combine the motion technology with the navi controller that no one will bother to purchase because no developer is going to support it, due to it not being included with the initial move controllers.
Wow they brainstormed the hell outa that name huh.
@Ipadkiller
Wow.
Note- DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller can be used in place of the navigation controller for all games that are compatible with the navigation controller
I might just cheap ass it.
@kspraydad If thats the case,as a developer I would mandate the use of a dualshock3 as the sub-controoller because it has accelerometers and the sub controller dosent. That way i can have a highper acurate motioncontroller in one hand and a a controller that can understand basic gestures.
@Einlander The only problem is, that's going to feel very uncomfortable. I tried holding a remote and the DS3 together, while doing so I kept feeling like I was going to drop the DS3.
this will get my girlfriend using my ps3...
not sure if that's a bad thing or not.
@djsiek she'll enjoy the force feedback
@kspraydad sorry man but that was pretty hilarious it actually made me laugh out loud haha
@Ipadkiller
It's like he's not even trying too hide the fact that he's trolling.
This reminds me of Will Smith in MiB 2 ... using the Navigational Stalk. Seriously, are the engineers the ones naming these pieces of shit?
@Martin C
Sony was created by engineers... draw parralels/correlations from there...
Just can't get rid of the annoying image of a glowing ball on top of the other stick
So Navi for short? :D
@Jake88 Call it the "NavCon"
You heard it here first. I made it up.
@Vman, Force Feedback is much more than vibration. FF adds in tightness, and other characteristics. .
