Thats kinda ridiculous. Its like patenting a brick. Not a big an of one button design, but I wonder whether Google can patent the "brick with 3 buttons" design and someone else the "brick with 4 button"
While its tablet world topping pixel density, Tegra 2 silicon, and fresh to death OS certainly sound awesome, we had to get our grubby mitts on one to see if it's as good as its spec sheet would have us believe.

Yes they could, as design patents claim only the exact "design" of an object, with very little variabilility allowed.
Hence, if you design a brick that has a unique design, you can patent it.
