LG's Snapdragon-powered LU2300 Optimus Q Android handset gets official
This one's been floating around for a while now and just spotted in the wild last week, but LG has finally come clean with its new LU2300 Android handset, albeit in a somewhat roundabout way on its official UK blog. The biggest news is that LG has confirmed that the phone does indeed pack a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Android 2.1, along with some other fairly impressive specs to match, including a 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive display, a 5-megapixel camera, built-in WiFi, DivX support and a DMB TV tuner -- that last feature of which likely indicates that this one won't be available over here anytime soon. There's also still no indication of a price or a firm release date, although it will apparently be available in Korea sometime this month or next.
Update: It looks like LG's UK blog may have been a bit too eager to get word of the LU2300 out, as it has now clarified that the phone won't have an AMOLED display and may or may not come with Android 2.1.

Why do they keep putting the snapdragon in Android phones when it CAN'T do 3D graphics at all and is stiffling gaming on that OS?
I hope that screen (on the left) dimmed when they took that picture, because that doesn't seem to do any justice to what I would think it should look like being AMOLED.
Oh why do you tease me so, LG.
Bring this phone and it's clickety QWERTY stateside.
An Android 2.1 phone with a Snapdragon processor. Great.
I like how this one says LG instead of *insert Android phone maker*
Snapdragon delight.
So I feel the need to share this story,I was reading this article and a spider came down from the ceeling so I smushed it with my droid.... the uses for cellphones seem endless, on another note cited be nice if more snapdragon or tegra phones would be released stateside
hmm looks interesting, wouldn't buy it though...
Android: check
1ghz Snapdragon: check
QWERTY keyboard: check
So, this appears to be the ONE PHONE out there that has the three very basic and common features that I want in a single package... and it's NOT COMING TO THE STATES?!? Arrrrrgh....
You would think phones like this would be common as dirt by now. But no, nobody else seems to have all three features in one phone.
@hated one
stfu
shut the fuck up...
They really need to stop putting those dpads on the right side...
for every 10 touch screen phones one has a keyboard and most of the time looks like trash. this looks nice
LG seems to be getting the plot with lessening the front from unnecessary buttons/keys.Add on top with that right mix of internal specs they're finally on the right Android assault path.This is a way forward.But yes someone needs to stop with this right d-pad orientation I just don't get the arguable efficiency there.But of course Droid/Milestone users can clarify that for me.
I think I would trade in my Nexus One for this.
@hated one
OK I'll bite. IMO, all Android phones could outsell or at least match the iPhone as a collective group, if they keep releasing phones like this, the Evo and also the Nexus One. Android manufacturers are releasing more and more features. Add to that no control being held over your head if you decide to mod your phone(although it may void the warranty), use whatever sync software you want, more freedom period. As soon as the mainstream realizes this, I could see a dent in the massive iPhone sales.
the bezel on the top and the bottom (in portrait) are massive, but other than that it looks fantastic - love the brushed metal on the keyboard's background
@Stephanie C
Only us geeks, people who can afford two phones and people who want to get on the touchscreen band wagon for cheap own android phones. Even though it is awesome spec wise, the world will not change when the Evo is released.
Looks like a nice keyboard, at least much better than Droid's...
@tobsmonster2
Android is releasing phone after phone in many versions. I find it hard to believe the mainstream hasn't taken some notice yet. Verizon alone seems to be releasing nothing but Android phones. T-Mobile has several consumer oriented Androids. Sprint will likely cash in either in profit or even recognition for the Evo. AT&T failed Android so far, but if the Galaxy S gets released, more coverage for Android. The mainstream WILL wake up and see there are other smartphones.
