We hope you're not sick of seeing the
iPad's inner bits, what with the
iFixit disassembly, gratuitous
Blendtec promo, and even the
FCC having some fun. Now TechRestore is getting in on it -- a bit tardily -- by giving the iPad the same stop-motion tear-down treatment that it lovingly applied for a
Modbook last year. Not only does the company rip this magical tablet down to its constituent parts but it puts it all back together again and, while there is neither a kraken released nor Medusa slain, the video
does feature some rather fanciful sound effects for you to enjoy, and it's all after the break.
@Jordan Well it has only $200 worth of hardware in it inc. the screen according to iFixIt.
Lol, he said "on the inside"
Misleading Title.shame on Tim Stevens & Engadget.
without fast forwarding the video, took longer than 4 mins. stupid way to make us read the article.
@LuckyD Not really, they said it was done "Harry Hausen-style". You should wiki him.
I could do it faster just give me the D*mn HAMMER!
Is it just Apple gear, or can I open and close any of my electronic devices and get a leading story here?
oh that was like watching hardcore porn for the first time, even the music....oh I feel so dirty now.
Look at all that extra space in there...
it's hollow for god's sake.
You CAN NOT tell me they couldn't have put another speaker and a microSD slot on this thing..
Awesome video... slow-mo's, music, zoom-in's. Perfect.
I'm still waiting for the iPad smash-up video. I admit to have enjoyed the video. I'm also surprised at the free space and that Steve Job was not hiding in it. Although they didn't take apart the memory and battery.
Wow, lots of extra, unused space in that puppy. I can see clearly why the THIEVES at Apple decided to omit a USB port, SD card reader, and webcam! I guess Steve Jobs KNEW that over 500K units would be sold to over 500K idiots in just a few days of launch even though the JOKEPAD (BIG iPod Touch) lacked such BASIC features. What a waste of money! I will wait for version 2. Oh yes, please include FLASH SUPPORT in version 2!
Nice to know for all the people who fell for the ipad gimmick in case they want to avoid the scandalous $99 fee for a new battery, they can do it themselves...First mistake however is buying it in the first place.
@Thor e $99 is cheap for a battery of that size and capacity. Ask Dell how much they charge for a similar mini 10v battery.
Awesome!
I'm just wondering if they found the secret to eternal life when going through it's insides.
what a piece of shit
@JakeInDC
lmao
thanks for basically being a blog that runs commercials for repair companies now.
rad.
I wonder if that thing REALLY switched on afterwards... having used a soldering iron to remove the RF shielding, I doubt it. Even if it did work they can't have reattached those little shields, in the process, SOMETHING must have been desoldered.
This Volcano ash is really pissing me off now!
Still waiting for my iPad from the U.S to be delivered to me in England.
Tracking says It left the U.S on the 14th, God knows where it is now!!!
Look at all that free space! Room for a camera, USB port AND SD slot. This only fuels my rage against Apple even more.
@maattp Heh, I don't think anyone ever claimed the reason for not including those things was sheer lack of space. It's been known since long before it was released that there was an empty space for a camera.
The sound effects were brilliant.
How does the iPad know when to change from portrait to landscape if it's sitting flat on a desk/table like at 2:49? Is there a button for it?
@Alex R
it was stop motion so they made it look like it did, it can only tell if you hold in your hands with the back facing away from you and not at the ground
