Gateway busts out Core i3, Core i5 NV series laptops
Gateway's just launched two 15.6-inch laptops -- the NV59C-H34E and the NV59C-H54E. Both of these Windows 7 Home Premium bad boys boast 1366 x 768 HD displays, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 640GB SATA HDD. They also have Intel integrated graphics, HDMI, VGA and three USB 2.0 ports, plus Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Gigabit Ethernet LAN. So what is the difference between these two lookalikes? Unsurprisingly, it's their CPUs. The NV59C-H34E packs a 2.13 GHz, Core i3 processor, and is available in silver and blue, while the NV59C-H54E (which sadly only comes in silver) boasts a 2.26GHz Core i5 CPU. These will be available on April 23rd in Japan, but you can already score Gateway's Core i3 NV5933u in the U.S. right now.

366 x 768 is a pretty intense resolution.
@AcerBandit
so is 4gb of 4gb of ram
@ddicted Boy, I'm not sure how we're going to handle all that power.
Gateway has really outdone themselves this time.
@ddicted "So what is the difference between these two lookalikes? Unsurprisingly, in their CPUs. " I'll got with, "it's their CPUs, rather than in. Or change the previous line to say "where" in place of "what".
@juanvaldez one typo deserves another, my bad...closed quotes, "in their CPUs"
@juanvaldez Muphry's Law applies here: " I'll got with, "...
@AcerBandit
366 x 768!!! TOO GOOD!
all that wide-widescreen gooodness!!!
@AcerBandit
guys 420 was like JUST over. lets just let the smoke clear . . .
@AcerBandit rough morning.
@AcerBandit It sounds like a pretty nice lappy for the price. not to mention that the specs aren't that mediocre as well. A core i3 sample from gateway. http://bit.ly/nv5933u-series-gateway
...They're still around?
@Mongoos150 gateway was purchased by Acer a few years back. You still see them at retailers and generally consist of midrange budget computers.
@Mongoos150 Every Gateway I've ever had has been an excellent product. IMO they make some of the best notebooks out there. Blows Dell pieces of crap out of the water.
@Deleteno5
Agreed. I still love my Gateway fx.
Every conversation with Dell owners usually includes the sentence, "the last time I called Dell technical support...."
Think you guys forgot a couple of zeroes in your display specs... :-)
@Palomino
Zeroes? Really? 3660 x 7680?
Sure it's not a one?
Well once you've opened the gateway, they all come flooding in!
Ah! What a sweet time it was a couple of months ago when I bought the Gateway i5 laptop, with Blu-ray drive for $499 from Best Buy. This one looks like it'll be in the $700 range, even without the Blu-ray drive.
@brahmachari99
did the sweet times end when you had to bring it home and use it?
366 x 768 HD displays, 4GB of 4GB DDR3 RAM
I'm just not quite sure where to start...
Me too...
Wow when Gateway has i5 in their lappy's, you know your Core2Duo is feeling out of date. Welp, still works...
That is one TIGHT display... get it? Cause like they mistyped it? And it's not even... like... enoguh for a photo? like... get it? guys why is everyone... going? GUYS COME BACK!!!
Hey my phone has a better display then that laptop. Pretty sad if you ask me. 800x480 > 366x768 IMO. Wow that would look really blocking on a screen that large.
I am skeptical of Gateway laptops, there is just something not right about them... Oh yeah i have a core2duo and it works just fine :) !!
I don't see what is boastful about 1366 x 768 for a 15" screen. My 7 year old laptop has a 1600x1200 display.
what's the difference between these laptops and my gateway NV59 with i5 430m that I have had for 2 months now, except that i have a ATI HD 5650 instead of a integrated gpu.
Gateways SUCK.. bottom line.. I had one from 08-09.. and that thing spit out burning hot air from its fans on normal use. I sold mine for 400 bucks and got a new ASUS UL-series back in november and I would never buy or recommend someone to buy a Gateway ever!
Speak for your self. I had a gateway tablet laptop with the swivel screen from 2004 to 2009. It was abused. But still kept kicking.
OK, this question is coming out of nowhere but I just wanted to ask it :)
Does anyone know if they would come out with a i3/i5 netbook? I know the screen would be too small to take advantage of HD images etc but you could plug-in a larger monitor if you want to us this netbook to watch movies say at home/anywhere and battery life would really suck. But I love the form and compact(ness) of a netbook and seriously would make it my main computer should it be more powerful. Any ideas?
