WebOS 1.4.1.1 now available for Verizon subscribers
Hardly the most exciting Palm news you're gonna hear this week, but the company that still owns itself for the time being has just updated its WebOS software on Verizon to the extremely granular version 1.4.1.1. The helpful changelog informs us there are no new apps, but pinch-zoom now works correctly in Doc and PDF views, a lag in the camera shutter sound has been rectified, and forwarding videos uploaded to YouTube on to your friends via email has also been made to work as it should. The most important fix of all, though, is to a keyboard input issue whereby a single key press would generate a letter twice -- both Pre Central and one of our readers report that this problem appears to have been consigned to the past. Good stuff, now let's see it go global, shall we?

they updated the splash screen with an HP logo? :)
@mex
No because the deal has not been finalized.
@mex
I only went to the comments on this post to see that comment!
One day....
My guess is new products become HP Palm 100 something like that. Dumping the Pre and definitely Pixi names in favor of Palm and a number
@mex
It'll be rather amusing when HP pulls support for all existing Palm Pres and force users to upgrade to an iPaq smartphone running webOS. All the signs pointed to Palm going out of business, but no, foolish consumers had to run out an buy a Pre because they thought the OS was cute. I guess people have to learn their lessons the hard way. Palm never really gave a crap and its fate was sealed. Miss Creepy's commercial didn't help, either.
@mex
I like Palm's logo, I hope they keep it orange.
@MosesusedaniPad Yep, I totally bought the Pre because the OS was 'cute.'
Joking, I bought it because it works. Well.
Hopefully these updates will be a continuing trend for many years to come!
Excited but cautious about the future of Palm. We'll see how this all plays out. Best of luck Palm!
@ThatGuitarGuy The best thing for WebOS is that it will run Nokia Qt apps and Games natively.
I would like more Palm News please, come on Hpalm Tablets!
Why Engadget didn't sneak in any June timeline questions is beyond me. Catch them off guard.
This day in history dedicated to PALM. I want dell lightning like phone produced by HP with web os.
WOW= Web Os Wonders
web os is real winner for netbooks and tablets.
That is a picture of a Sprint Pre, not a VZW Pre Plus
@DrDr I was thinking the same thing xD
@DrDr With all the crazy, odd, artsy editorial images that Engadget posts, they couldn't even put up a picture of the right phone...
Tsk tsk.
@clexman
It was probably I Verizon Pre that they photoshopped to look like Sprint one!
Where's my NFL Mobile? Is that too much to ask for?
@silkyjohnson My curve 8330 has NFL Mobile. Want to trade?
I've been on the edge. My AT&T contract is up and I've been eyeing that Pre Plus on Verizon for a few weeks. Then comes Dell with the Lightning for WP7 coming to AT&T and looking like it might just be worth the wait. And yesterday HP buys Palm, which will most certainly mean new webOS phones sooner than later, since HP wants to jump in the mobile pool now. Hmmm, what to do , what to do. I'm loving the competition, but not the waiting.
@conasca Hold up a for a bit. AT&T should start selling the Pre Plus soon. Should be out by mid-May.

Is this phone available in Europe or US without a contract? I tried to find it at the ebay but without results...
Not with a bang, but with a whimper
I have the problem of multiple letters in one key press. It's incredibly annoying. I hope it's really fixed.
@andrewjking well my friends Pre Plus' keyboard quit working all together..... Id consider yourself lucky
Still seems like the GPS on the VZW pre plus is still horribly broken.
Can anyone confirm that the double key press has been fixed??
Why do you call v1.4.1.1 "extremely granular" ? What does that mean? Is the new version going to leave grit in my ear like sand at the beach?
I've read another article that used the word similarly, but I have no clue how it can relate to an electronic interface. Can someone please enlighten me? The only definition of granular that I know is 'having large, coarse grains or particles'.
