Pre Plus comes to AT&T on May 16, $149.99 with free Touchstone
AT&T has finally sent out the rundown on when (and for how much) its customers will be able to saddle themselves with a Pre Plus and matching two-year contract, and the wait isn't a long one: it launches this coming Sunday, May 16, just as we'd expected. It'll run $149.99 on contract after rebate -- the same that Sprint is charging for the Pre, and $100 more than Verizon is charging for its own Pre Plus -- but buyers will be getting a free Touchstone charging dock along with their purchase "for a limited time" when the phone is picked up in a corporate-owned store. There's no word on the Pixi Plus yet, but hey, at least this gets Palm back on the network after an extended vacation. No word on a free mobile hotspot add-on, but hope springs eternal, we suppose.

time to get your webOS on AT&Ters!
@skyblaze
And hopefully some HP Hurricane action soon.
@skyblaze
And you know... it would just lovely if someone can confirm being able to use an iPad's micro sim in one of these (or any other AT&T smartphone for that matter) through an adapter of some sort. I'd drop for this in a heartbeat if I could go that route.
....basically trying to get in on the WebOS action myself (among other things) without paying for another phone number XP
@furquanatique
I wholeheartedly agree, sir
Yawwwn...... time for some H-PRE GOODNESS! ...
@skyblaze May be off contract for 399
@skyblaze
dude wtf my sprint pre didn't come with a touchstone :-( what makes you guise so special :-(
@wtgig
...Yeah, but you're keyboard decals come with awesome orange accents...
Cheer-up Man!
That's waaay too expensive this late in the game.
@coolblue830 Yep. Definitely too expensive, but some people pay even more for turds these days.
@coolblue830
Agreed. Something tells me a couple things come into play here:
It's hard to compete with Verizon's pricing (and free WiFi Hotspot), but I'm guessing Big Red has a couple warehouses full of these [the Pre]. They probably expected a much better showing, but the Droid and now Incredible are eating into those sales (along with Palm's crummy initial advertising). AT&T also doesn't want to step on any toes (Apple) so it's hard to say what goes on in the shadows. I can't think a GSM version of the same phone costs *that* much more than a CDMA version.
@Mr Blue
You have to activate the Pre Plus' hotspot feature for a fee. It's not free. It's able to, but not automatically free.
Overheard this @ a Verizon Wireless store while someone else asked about it.
@Mr Blue
Maybe they would've sold better Verizon reps actually tried to sell them.
@coolblue830 Pricing is in line with other smartphones they sell, even the iphone...and definitely beats the Blackberry Bold lol.
@zephxiii that'd be a valid point if this was a new phone, but it's not. It's been out for quite some time. And pricing should be in line with demand, which let's face it, is not on the same level as the other smartphones on the market.
@Mr Blue
I was at a Verizon store yesterday and they didn't even have the phone available
@zeal
This. I heard Verizon store reps were actively steering people away from WebOS phones to push the Droid.
@coolblue830 The pre has been out for less than a year, and the pre plus version has been out for less time than that.
@coolblue830
Go talk to Sprint. They are still selling the non "Plus" version. It's $149 AFTER $100 rebate AND you get no Touchstone. Sprint wonders why these don't sell ...
Will the Pre plus come to UK???
@jimmy1. It will come to the UK when Luke becomes a Jedi. Never going to happen
@Lord Vader
Yoda said that Lukes training would be complete when he faced and defeated Darth Vader one last time. And your deeeeaaad buddy!
@jimmy1. No, that's just what i wanted my documentary to make you think. You see, i didn't die. I staged the entire fight. As soon as i killed the emperor, i pretended to die of mild electric shock. Being the fool that Luke is, he fell for it. He laid me on the bottom of his cruiser and i faked death. He wanted to cremate me, and that is when i sensed my plan was failing me. As soon as Luke turned his head, I quickly teleported to tatooine where a bunch of soon-to-be-dead tuskan raiders where. And i teleported back to leave a stuffed dummy of me where Luke was. When i flipped a button on my chest plate to teleport me back to tatooine, it malfunctioned and i ended up in this present year on a desolate area of the Andromeda Galaxy, in which i began to rebuild my Empire. Where, to this day, i have intercepted all of your radio waves and wifi signals from a gaping wormhole in the middle of your "MIT". And have found a keen interest in stealing the technology from this site. That is all
@Lord Vader
Lord Vader - 1 Jimmy - 0 Palm Pre - Retired
@Lord Vader
just like an evil villain to monologue instead of using Force Choke.
@Lord Vader
Lucasfilm...please make a epilouge for Star Wars based on EXACTLY what our Lord Vader just described...PLEASE?
@Lord Vader
You have quite an imagination...
@Lord Vader This is your plan to rebuild your empire?

Who do we blame when the Palm Pre Plus fails to sell on the AT&T cause Verizon is selling the Palm Pre Plus for $30 with free mobile hotspot? Palm? Who?
@Chi
HP...Actually, lets join the party and blame Adobe...
However, it is actually due to Apple and their meddling in AT&T's offerings...They probably have some kind of a clause that states a strong competition should not be offered if they want to keep the exclusive deal on the iPhone, which is why we don't see any good Android phones from AT&T...Nexus One doesn't count, since it isn't offered by the carrier...
haha, Its free with Verizon!
@guigsy
you seem like a douche bag.
Nice, a free Touchstone. I really hope AT&T does a better job advertising the operating system than others in the past have. We shall see.
@a dumb cat Agreed. The Pre w/o a touchstone is just not nearly as exciting. I find my phone never dies now & it works flawlessly. We just switch out which Pre's on the charger: mine or my wife's.
I also find it useful if I'm waiting for something to arrive since notifications stay up & visible, instead of just going to a generic "blink" of the button. But AT&T won't get that functionality (Pre Plus disposes of it).
@Judah Rosenthal The Pre Plus has an LED where the button on the Sprint Pre was, it blinks with notifications.
Give me WebOS on Snapdragon and maybe we'll talk...
@Realityism 3GS has the same proc as Pre and it's about 10x faster in practice, processor is not the problem, I wish it were that easy.
@mogren It is that easy.
My Pre is kernel'd at 800 mhz.
Basically, this phone zooms. Apps load in less than 1-2 seconds, and coupled with multitasking, it makes the phone one of the best in use.
So basically, if Palm releases a phone with a larger screen, 1ghz+ processor, better battery, version 1.5.0... we could see some crazy stuff happening for WebOS and palm.
More pluses would be a front facing camera, 4g capability on Sprint, etc.
Yes. Spread the Love!
I want to know if ATT will offer wifi hotspot. Again I'm guessing no chance
If I could roll my 3GS data plan into a family data plan, I'd get this for my GF. As it stands, we don't have the cash for 2 different unlimited data plans.
i'll wait a month and then get it when its down to $49
@WillSmith
Will, you're a cheap-skate. :P
@WillSmith
A free pass into Bel-Air ain't enough for ya?
He was just chillin' out, Mac-sin, relaxing . . .
@a dumb cat He has to be cheap he gives all his money to scientology.
Thats an awesome deal!
i still wouldnt buy this outdated shite if at&t paid me...with 99 dollar iphones i dont know how this thing will sell
@Android4Eva
I would take a Pre Plus over a 3GS. I think a lot of ppl would take the Pre over the 3G
@Android4Eva
Have you fell and bumped your antennae? Outdated???
