Toshiba ships Core i7-equipped Satellite P505 gaming laptop, all 18.4-inches of it
Looking for the most gargantuan laptop money can buy? How's about the biggest laptop that the least amount of money can buy? Toshiba's Satellite P505 -- a machine we spotted briefly at CES this year -- has now been put on sale over at Microsoft's own webstore, complete with an 18.4-inch LCD (1,680 x 945), a 1.6GHz Core i7-720QM processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory, 500GB SATA hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium, a DVD SuperMulti drive, ExpressCard slot, integrated memory card reader, NVIDIA's GeForce 310M (512MB), four USB 2.0 sockets and a beastly 12-cell Li-ion battery. Best of all, you can pop in a coupon (see the links below for details) in order to score this behemoth for $689, or just $687.95 more than freedom. Hop on past the break if you need an explanation.Update: Seems that code down there has expired -- anyone got an alternate?

sign me up as sold ! don't need for gaming .. but does fill the need for my big cheap laptop considering my last laptop was a 20.1" screen hp HDX
I'd get it if there was a way to upgrade the screen to 1920x1200, or at least 1920x1080. I'd also like a lot more clock please.
Does it only come in this one configuration?
@Crunch A lot more clock? Believe me, the clock is fine; can beat an old laptop 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo or 2.0GHz Core 2 Quad easy.
Very low resolution. You'll regret buying this...
Darren needs to change the title, Facebook social gaming laptop this is. Traditional PC gaming this is not.
@Dandmcd:
>Facebook social gaming laptop
In medieval times, you would have been burned at the stake for uttering that string of words.
What's better this or a MacBook pro 13 inch?
@coolduder1 Depends. Without the coupon, the laptop costs 1100$ (as far as I could see in the comments here)
The lowest priced MacBook Pro costs 1200$, which has 13", 4 GB Ram, 320M, Intel Core 2 Duo (2,4 GHz) and 250 GB. As far as I can tell, it's inferior spec wise. But then again, people buy Macs for the OS.
@coolduder1 MBP. I have had seven different Toshibas in as many years. Every single one died. I bought a MacBook Pro. Only thing that ever went wrong was Firefox crashing in BootCamp Win 7
Here's the true gaming version, the Toshiba X505:

It's got NVidia's top of the line mobile chipset, the 360M, 6GB of RAM, and a 1920x1080 display. And of course a price to match, $1629 :)
That 310M ranks way lower even than my 3-year old 9600M GT. No thanks.

Everyone,
you need to accept the fact that when they mention "gaming" in such cases, they mean things like "minesweeper" and... you get the idea.
really a 310 for gaming? someone stop smoking crack
Am I the only person who got the Team America reference?
I'm loving my Alienware M17x - it's a monster! But looking at the specs for this, I might just have to upgrade!

Team America FTW!
No HDMI out, ... it's useless...
"The most gargantuan laptop money can buy?" What happened to the 20-21" ones you used to be able to get?
Maybe the "most gargantuan laptop" $900 can buy...
@Michael Pollard
Or even a buck 0 - 0 five ($1005) can buy...
