Disney's A Christmas Carol Blu-ray 3D box art -- and $50 srp -- revealed
Disney announced its first Blu-ray 3D disc Disney's A Christmas Carol would arrive in the fourth quarter during CES, but now TheHDRoom has box art for what will be a 4-disc combo pack including a 3D edition, 2D Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy. "Scrooge's Wild Ride" is exclusive to the 3D version, but both will have a 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack. The only bad news is a $49.99 srp for the pack, so we hope you really, really liked Jim Carrey's take on Scrooge -- the 2D Blu-ray version has a $39.99 srp.

With any luck Amazon will have the 2D version for $20 at some point.....I would get the 3D version just in case I get a 3D TV in the future, but its just not worth it for the time being.
Not a bad idea as an excuse to keep the price so high (including every imaginable distribution form in one package) but I doubt they'll sucker in many for such a high quality movie like that.
The smart thing would be to have some cheap releases and hardware then jack the prices of the movies. Too much upfront cost, ain't many but the bleeding edgers gunna soak in the 3D. It'll be like the start of blu-ray all over, only slower cause our equipment ain't old enough to replace yet.
Did anybody want to mention that Disney's official entry into te 3-D Blu-Ray world is apparently a pretty mediocre movie? Meh.
@engeek
I think the opportunity to talk about the movie itself was wasted back when this was announced in January. The link is even in the article (Good on Richard Lawler for acknowledging the ghost of CES past!)
I simply can't imagine anybody paying this much for the movie. I mean, yeah, you're getting two copies, at essentially $25 a copy, but the second copy should be treated as a bonus, not an additional sale.
For comparison, their Diamond Edition Blu-Ray releases (such as Snow White) have generally been $25 including a DVD of the first disc. It's a perfectly reasonable price, and more easily afforded by people on limited budgets, such as myself.
Arnt 3d blurays backwards compatible? So what is the point of getting a 2d bluray with it? I guess if you have two bluray players, maybe, no?
As for the digital copy I normally forget to get it before it expires and the dvd I just give away.
