White next-gen iPhone apparently materializes in full form
Clearly a white front plate was not enough to satisfy curiosity. Though we aren't able to verify this ourselves, Chinese site Apple.pro has a couple shots of what it claims to be the white next-gen iPhone, almost fully assembled (the front plate looks like it hasn't been snapped in all the way) and casually lounging next to the black model we've gazed upon so many times at this point. Is this enough for us to trust and comfortably change our palette preferences? Nah, but surely 15 days until expected confirmation can't be too excruciating of a wait.

whats with the indent on the home button on the white one?
@Darth Vadar Its front is open meaning its just laying loosely ontop..
@Darth Vadar
"the front plate looks like it hasn't been snapped in all the way". Looking at the picture is not enough to merit a comment. You gotta READ the article.
@Darth Vadar
The front plate hasn't been snapped in all the way.
@Darth Vadar
If that if you have fat fingers? Iphone is not for you...
@monkeyman87
trust me i love my ipod touch, just need to upgrade sometime, im not at all happy with the camera update for ipod touch, im thinking of getting the white iphone.
@Darth Vadar
with all the leaks of the actual product, the KIRF league probably have massive factories pumping out colored variants now that its almost official. That is if apple stick to black and white only
@Darth Vadar: It's a ONE PARAGRAPH article and you couldn't read it before you posted?
@Darth Vadar
It's probably just a lot more noticeable on white than it is on black. What's more interesting is the reflective strip above the earpiece on the white phone. Could be the new IR sensor, since the front-facing camera is where the IR sensors are now.
@Darth Vadar. If your comment is blown into Oblivion, I blew it
@Lord Vader What else have you blown recently, Lord Vader?
@Darth Vadar
.....I think the key to Apples success is having a world sized grand ball for every product launch.
Why does HP just roll out a tablet, but apple needs a three week drum roll to Steve Jobs dancing around with the "worlds greatest mind blowing inventions"?
@JoeJoeJoeJoeJoe. Just last month i blew up Pluto. I also planned on blowing up one of your planet's television satellites as i was unhappy with the amount of bad programmes it was airing, but my laser missed and seemed to hit an Oil Pipe in one of your Oceans
@The Jerk Darth Vadar not the all mighty one :P
Shut the f*** up :)
I think their marketing strategy is working >:(
I wanted an EVO 4G, But I live in canada..
And I know iPhones always go international like right away, so I guess I will have to just get this.. thing..
Smaller screen, crippled OS, useless apps FTMFW!
But still, atleast I know the jailbreak community will support it to death, so I guess its a win / win for me.
@Jeff Kibuule
that's the ambient light sensor. It's just much more visible on white. If they added an IR sensor it would be on the top of the phone, nor the face.
@Lord Vader
Man, I shit myself a little there, good job haha.
@MoonWalkerCTE - Yea i can't help but notice the gap raising the plastic above the home button on the white Phone Mock - something tells me Apple wouldn't have designed the iPhone with hole to reach down for the home button =)
@Darth Vadar
is it just me or is this white phone uber ugly? I hope its not the final product look... I have always wanted a white phone.. haven't had the opp to get one yet...
@Lord Vader
rofl
@Darth Vadar we dont have room for a darth AND lord vader, and clearly you are the weaker of the two.
@Lord Vader
What a letdown. I thought you were going to say "Uranus". Cliche, but still appropriate.
@onlymyrailgun. No, I plan on blowing up Uranus next month
@MoonWalkerCTE Who is that Dart Vadar person?? many people replied him. :D
@Lord Vader
You have become the most prominent and eternal personality on Engadget. They should have you write columns instead of Gartenberg.
@Darth Vadar
I'm honestly shocked no one has pointed this out, but those aren't whole phones. Those appear to be only the metal body/sides, with the front plate (plus home button) placed on top. You can see the white table surface through the dock and other holes in the bottom.
@Technologeee If it sucks so much, you have choices. You can buy any other phone. Nobody is holding a gun to your head. If you do buy it, you're just telling Apple that the device is good enough for you to purchase.
@Darth Vadar
this one has screws in the bottom
@Lord Vader how many galactic credits will i have to pay you to blow up pluto? gosh, what a useless dwarf.
@Lord Vader Wait, you'd blow yourself? Talk about a disturbance in the force....
@JoeJoeJoeJoeJoe LMAO
@newjaruz
i quite like that white look. The only problem is, it tends to look like a Nokia or Sammi phone.
@Lord Vader Joke's on you Vader - Pluto isn't a planet! What's the point of having a station capable of planetary destruction when you're shooting at small fries? I mean, what's next, Ganymede?
@oproski Jobs first reaction to the crowd on the MWDC? -- Two words -- "God Demmet!" --- Our take? Will you ever release that Verizon iPhone? http://j.mp/4g-verizon-iphone-dream
@Araman Pluto is still a planet. Only four percent of the IAU voted on this, and most are not planetary scientists. Their decision was immediately opposed in a formal petition by hundreds of professional astronomers led by Dr. Alan Stern, Principal Investigator of NASA’s New Horizons mission to Pluto. Stern and like-minded scientists favor a broader planet definition that includes any non-self-luminous spheroidal body in orbit around a star. The spherical part is important because objects become spherical when they attain a state known as hydrostatic equilibrium, meaning they are large enough for their own gravity to pull them into a round shape. This is a characteristic of planets and not of shapeless asteroids and Kuiper Belt Objects. Pluto meets this criterion and is therefore a planet.
@Darth Vadar That looks really, really bad. Sorry Apple, you lose this round handily.
@oproski,
He didn't even have to read the full paragraph, only the second sentence.
@laurele that was awesome.
This is going to be awesome. I expect some surpises from Apple.
@MoonWalkerCTE
Well, I think they already lost the punchline : )
@revoltracers
When the new iPhone finally is released, it's going to be a surprise to a lot of people. I'd venture to say that the average person on the streets doesn't even know a new iPhone is coming out, let alone what it looks like or what colors it will be available in.
@MoonWalkerCTE
Yeah, can't wait to see what they have for us when they release the official details.
@ebgolfin the amount of coverage this thing [iphone 4G/HD] gets, everyone knows a new iphone is coming out. Hell, the leaks were publicised in englands national press.
@MoonWalkerCTE
I'm sorry, but who cares, who would want such an UGLY ASS PHONE!?
The 3G and 3Gs were both really nice looking phones, this is just butt ugly, super long and just so sharp looking...no thanks, i will stick with the evo 4G, iphone OS is so old and boring anyways, i don't like having to wait for jailbreaks to make it even slightly less boring.
I think people should just start accepting that android is the future, and far superior.
Flat iPhone is flat.
@TickLe MY eLMo
It's a matter of opinion. I find this much better looking than the concave iPhone 3GS. I like the 200,000 app for everything functionality. I'm not interested in Android. Just like you have the freedom to choose to buy it, others are free to choose what THEY like. Don't dictate what people should buy for themselves.
@MoonWalkerCTE
i would agree with you, but i quite dislike this white one, the black looks pretty nice, but to me the white one looks rather tack, and cheap :S
not at all what apple prides itself on
then again, a company gets what it pays for eh? ;)
@Almo
You do realize your coveted 200,000 apps consist of multiple duplicates, with at least 40% of the apps being total shit, or porn. Honestly, the app store is full of shit, with maybe 35% of the apps being actually useful to the majority. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything, just recommending they move on to a less boring of a mobile operating system :).
@revoltracers oh i don't know. there's a few things they could toss out there.
"Okay so you've all heard the rumors about us creating a CDMA phone for Verizon. Well that's not true. Okay it's sort of true. We have made a CDMA phone, but it will be locked to Sprint."
that would be a fun punchline.
or how about
"Okay so you heard the rumors that ATT offered up this sweet ass no contract data thingy for the ipad so we'd give them an extension on their iphone deal. Not true. The ipad thing is totally independent. The truth is that we told that that we had made the new phone to actually only work on t-mobile 3g and would leave it like that unless they allow tethering of the iphone to actual computers (still no ipad). So yeah. they had to say okay. Enjoy."
that could be another good one.
@TickLe MY eLMo
You do realise the most downloaded Android app is a task manager? Also having tens of alternative apps for each function? But a much lower rate of well polished ones. It's the same story.
