LG hasn't been what you'd call "super secretive" with its first
Windows Phone 7 hardware (codenamed
LG Panther), after all, the phone was
flashed on the Engadget Show as the first official hardware for the new OS. Still, a prototype of the phone, meant for developers to start testing their apps on, has made its way into the wild and might shed some new light on the handset. It's been spotted with some full-on packaging (which is apparently non-final, even the Windows Phone 7 logo is wrong) and a "GW910" model number, which might be the final name for the handset -- or at least its internal call sign. It's also dangerously close in sound to the
GW990, bringing back painful memories of that
Moorestown phone's cancellation. Other notes accompanying the leak state that while the OS still has plenty of rough edges and is being updated with new builds almost every other day, it's "more or less feature complete" and very fast. They even shot a sample photo with the device, which you can find at your friendly neighborhood source link. Haven't had enough Windows Phone 7? Hit up our
nerdtastic breakdown of the OS's core components.
Update: Looks like
Innovative Singapore got a video of the phone's startup sequence as well. Watch it power on at our source link.
I'm lookin for HTC or Dell. Not an LG fan in the slightest but it looks decent.
@Waltah I have owned every HTC device to come to ATT and when my Tilt 2 went down for a minute (warranty issue) I had to use an old VU (POS phone to alot) but I thought that the touch response was nice and the camera was better than mine honestly. LG at least in GSM area at one time (speaking because I worked for att) were horrible the cdma phones LG made were just better quality and build. I think that is changing in the last couple of years because they have to build better phones for GSM (and one reason is iPhone), because when you have a device with a legit hardware you have to step it up.
It doesn't matter what the name is...WinMo 7 will be just as crappy and non competitive.
@MSwillDie lol what type phone do you use?
Ok.. WHY LG?????!?!?!?
LG SUCKS...
WINDOWS PHONE 7 FTW!
Some scrappy startup named HTC hasn't abandoned them
why not use one of LG's great keyboards like on the enV3 or enV Touch? why use one that looks like the HTC ones? i hate flat keyboards where the keys are right next to each other. but as long as it's better than the craptastic Moto Droid one, I guess it's an upgrade...
@hated one
Hey guys, can you translate what he said to me so I can answer him?
is it possible to have a world where people at least try something out before bashing it? it's so sad to see apple fans waste so much energy bashing android and windows phone 7 without even trying them. windows phone 7 hasn't even been released and android/apple fans feel so threatened that they have to throw unfounded digs.
and it's especially odd when nokia and rim dominate the landscape.
just like ps3 and 360 fanboys beat each other up when the wii is lapping them many times over...
With android poised to take over, I don't expect WM7 to go far, and I really don't expect a WM8.
iPhone will continue to sell to those who prefer fashion over function.
Watched the video. I wanted to see more of the hubs/animation after the setup. But what we can see it looks speedy and smooth with some nice animation touches like the coloring in of the button and the slight bounce upwards when you press it.
Is there any more videos on this device showing the hubs (not emulator)?
Anyone notice start up time for windows phone 7 OS? its actually faster then Iphone OS.

I don't know if its just me, but the silverlight video on the source is impossibly slow to buffer.
