Lenovo's Core i3 / i5-based IdeaPad Z560 now available to order
We'd heard it was coming in June, and it looks like Lenovo's new Core i3 / i5-based IdeaPad Z560 is now already available to order directly from the company, with a promised ship date "within 13 days" (i.e. sometime in June, unless Lenovo really starts to move these out). Starting at just $739, the laptop packs a 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, along with your choice of integrated Intel HD or discrete NVIDIA GeForce 310M graphics, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 320GB or 500GB hard drives, a DVD burner, a six-cell battery and, of course, your choice of Intel's latest and greatest ULV processors. Still undecided? Then perhaps our recent hands-on will help sway you one way or the other.

It could do a little bit better on graphics, but otherwise it looks like a pretty good deal.
@kickerbockeragua agreed, i wonder if they have plans on releasing an updated one with the 480m chip we saw today in the near future
@kickerbockeragua It could also be a little thinner. With these new ULV processors, the size of these should at least be thinner than laptops using standard Intel processors.
I dont like how resistant lenovo is to offering configuration choices.
Perhaps if Lenovo gave the full sized IdeaPad laptops the same Zinc hinges as they do for the ThinkPads, then this would be a deal. Without it, anyone looking at this without the GeForce 310M option would be better off by getting a ThinkPad L512 with a 9 cell battery and 3GB of RAM for around the same price.
My professors have all been lamenting using Lenovo specifically for their unreliability and slow technical support. It's just one of those companies that I'll never trust.
@blokeyhighlander If they're using IdeaPads, that's understandable. ThinkPads however are a totally different story, moreso if you also invest in the ThinkVantage package.
@Sable Drakon I'll have to take a look next time I'm on campus.
@blokeyhighlander
I'll have to second the Dragon. I've never heard anything but good things about the ThinkPad's reliability. Customer service though, I don't know much about. Generally speaking though, I'm my own customer service, so that was never really a huge deal for me.
I think is a bit late, I got one of the same specs (i5) plus Blu Ray or a 100 bucks cheaper.
I don't see any ULV processors.
What exactly does Lenovo have against high res displays?
whats with the touchpad being more to the left and not centre???
@FuturismRave
It is centered with the qwerty portion of the keyboard instead of the entire laptop, because it also has a numpad. It will have the same relative touchpad position as a smaller laptop without a numpad while you are typing. If the touchpad were to be centered on the whole laptop then you would have to shift your hands over more to use it.
@FuturismRave It's centered relative to the keyboard, not the keyboard and the 10 Key pad.
@guroth
Thanks for enlightening me - I never realised that - doh! :-)
Argh, those aren't ULV processors at all! You got my hopes up! Sigh.

Has anyone jumped and gotten the thing? I'm a bit concerned about the series because I keep stumbling upon reviews that say only the BU model has wifi support. That doesn't mean that I won't be able to connect to wifi hot spots, right?
