Samsung has just let the cat out of the bag regarding its top of the line
Galaxy S, which is set to make its global debut in Asian markets this June. Unsubsidized, this 4-inch beastie will cost you S$1,098 (or around $775), which might be a little on the steep side, but then this is one of only a pair of
Super AMOLED handsets on the market and Samsung makes
the other one. And in case you want an alternative closer to home, Amazon's German portal is now listing the Galaxy S for pre-order at €649, which works out to about the same price. The best news from today, however, is probably Samsung's official confirmation that the phone will be getting an
Android 2.2 upgrade at some point in its future. No specifics are given as yet, but we'll take our Froyo whenever and wherever we can get it.
[Thanks, Rob]
Any other phones were already announced with the same screen technology?
Ya know what's really intriguing about the Samsung Galaxy S? How certain gadget blogs are choosing not to cover certain news releases about it... specifically ones that might paint it in a better light than some competitor's (HTC! HTC! HTC!) flagship handsets. Before commenting any further on the merits (or demerits) of the Samsung Galaxy S, I suggest one first read the full review on GSMarena.com, and also check out the following articles:

@ajax7 I've found it interesting myself and only thought how it could've been due to poor post-production support, historical bias. I'll check these out.
No Flash, Plastic, Made by Samsung. Pfff, too bad that nice screen and processor is in this phone.
Ordered mine a little while back, trying to be patient.
@TravUK
I'm getting mine delivered to me this Saturday!
You can get a Samsung Galaxy S with 45 Euro and 2 years contract for 30 Euro /month with Vodafone Netherlands on belnu dot nl. I say, that's cheap.
