@dorraj6 Cable? Really?
Answer: WiDi
@Vincent
only bad thing i can say about the evo is the htc sense. we dont need it anymore, android is very close to being a complete os
@N900androidOS
You can turn it off in the settings. No more worries. Now go buy an Evo
I see it says "8GB Card" under "what's in the box" which is a bit surprising since you can only buy up to 16GB micro SDHC cards these days. If that's the case, I feel less inclined to keep the $60 16GB card I just bought on Amazon.
@dswatson83: The worry isn't whether you can turn senseUI on or off or not. The worry is that because of it you'll have to wait ~6 months to get an OS update after it has been released already.
@dswatson83
Home Launcher may be removed/disabled. I read that this happened with the consumer model of the UK Desire (review units were able to clear Sense UI as the default launcher, but it ended up being removed for whatever reason).
Still not really a problem though, Launcher Pro (from the Market) is pretty awesome :D
@andthemaniam
Hm, reading that back it sounds weird and confusing haha. What I mean is Sense UI is the only launcher option for the UK Desire (consumer model) and this may happen with the EVO, but you can download a new launcher from the Market and use it no problem :D
@N900androidOS thats why you have the option to shut the sense off!!
@imp3tigo
Sandisk Sells 32 GB Now...unfortunately, their Sold out Till who knows when...but im not one of those people that Blew 199.99 on a Micro SD Card...thats as much as the damn fone. So your 16GB Should do just fine...
@andthemaniam
No it wont. You can turn off Sense on the Evo. It has a software switch that turns it into stock android.
No worries!
@dorraj6 $30 for an HDMI cable? Is it made by Monster?
@LEDfoot I agree that it sucks having to wait longer, but for the masses they don't realize that they are waiting for a new version, sense is buitiful and I don't think I would buy an android without it. And lets face it, if you are geeky enough to know you are waiting for a new version you are geeky enough to get the new version from XDA Dev.
@dorraj6
That HDMi cable must be made by Monster. A like cable should cost no more than $8 http://bit.ly/cq5UWC
Also, an HD2 case/accessory is going to be much less than OEM EVO accessory's...
If I ever see someone with a 4+ inch phone on a belt clip I'm going to shoot them.
I concur, because the only thing real men should be wearing on their belts are revolvers.
@fais
Wait until you see the iPad belt clip
@whySoSerious
Agreed
@whySoSerious
+1 hombre!
@fais, The only thing worse than having a belt clip for your 4 inch phone is a fanny pack to match lol..
@fais thats funny
@fais I was actually thinking about a belt clip, but your post snapped me back to reality! :D
$30 for an HDMI cable! ridiculous.
@centeredtype Don't worry about it, wait a month and it will be on monoprice for $10.
@fragmit i dont think that cable will work. It has to be a type D cable. the connection is diff i bleive.
And it's not even Monster-branded...
@fragmit That's mini HDMI Type C, This takes micro HDMI Type D
@centeredtype They have to charge $30 for it so they can give you a 25% discount on it... It's that new math thing... They bought it for $10, package for $1, rent at the store $2, 3 hours of bad tech support to explain to them that it's not working right $9 (can you imagine if they hadn't outsourced, this cable would be $100) and poof, and that comes to $22... with the 25% off discount, cost = $22.50... Right on the money!
@centeredtype
Why would anyone buy just the cable? They got the dock w/cable for and extra 10 spot. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
The Droid dock retailed for $30 when released, so pricing is not out of line, yet it IS overpriced.
@Dank Dillweed I would buy the cable so I won't have to drag the whole dock to my friends house to show him my vacation photos :)
Great googly moogly $20 for an HDMI cable? Damn you Sprint. your lucky i waited to long and can only find them on ebay prob from china..
only things im purchasing are HDMI Dock, Car mount. everything else ill get from amazon for cheaper.
@neeko18 i ment $30 i fail but that $30 HDMI cable fails more. All the HDMI cables in my house didnt come up to $30.
@neeko18 you probably also meant "you're lucky"
@neeko18
I usually ignore a typo or two, but your grasp of English grammar and spelling never ceases to amaze me. Added to the fact that I highly doubt ALL the HDMI cables you own cost less than $30, I'm calling you out today.
Well, I guess if you only have one HDMI cable for that Insignia in your folks basement.
@Dank Dillweed I will reply in bullet format so it is easier for you to read.
- this is a blog there is no need to correct anyone on their grammar. When i write on engadget im usually speed typing and don't really care about my little spelling mistakes since my points usually are valid and the spelling doesn't stop the average person from comprehending what i wrote. But there's always one d*ck in the bunch
-I have 3 HDMI cables in MY APARTMENT connected to a samsung DLP from DirectTV, another LCD in bedroom and lastly an DVI -->HDMI cable connected to my macmini as HTPC and 2 were purchased from monoprice and 1 from ebay so YES they were combined less then $30
- Were you trying to come across as cool and funny for assuming i'm some slacker loser living in my folks basement? If so the joke didn't really hit the target..Just plain WEAK really.
Thank You for the snarky comment you have brought some life to a slow Friday.
@Dank Dillweed
Could be, I have 5 HDMI cables and they all total less than $30
@Dank Dillweed
5 HDMI cables. Less than 30$. Monoproce ftw.
I wonder how easy it is to get the evo into and out of that car dock.
BTW, any of you needing extra chargers and USB cables, etc (you know, because you're going to use the hell out of this thing and will constantly need to power it @ work, etc), I'd consider jumping on eBay and buying up the OEM HTC HD2 for your EVO access's before launch, when many more people will be scrounging to buy them.
footnote, if you're upgrading from a Hero with that nifty HTC modded mini USB port, note that the EVO is microUSB.
@whySoSerious iv got my palm pre micro USB cable just waiting for some EVO love. no need to buy more cables. Wish my touchstone could also be used. that would be a great combo.
@neeko18 Same here! I've got cables at home, cables in my car, and cables at work!
I had stocked up on cables everywhere for my Hero - and now none of them are compatible - lol. Well, the HTC OEM power pack (that the usb cable plugs into is). Just need to stock up on cables - oh and a car charger. Not feeling the car dock for daily use - but trips with Navi, hells yeah.
@whySoSerious I had a micro USB and HDMI surgically implanted in my frontal lobe - I will always be prepared.
I really want a bike mount for the EVO, it would be nice to use while out biking with google maps in view.
@Vdek
Love the Creativity...but not sure i want my Child Mounted on my Bike....Too many things can go wrong. Car mount Fails..it May bounce into the Comfort of my seat....Bike Mount Fails.....
EVO is fail...65K color depth display.
No thanks...Motorola shadow FTW.
@DoctarPeppar
Don't be mad you are on Verizon and cant get it... It will be ok.
@thesafecigarette
If I wanted a phone that was limited to 65K colors I would go buy a Windows Mobile 6 device LOL
@DoctarPeppar Do the colors really matter that much to you?
@ThatDudeSolo
Yes -- with 65K color (16-bit), there is something called stepping that happens, especially with gradients.
See for yourself:

The Evo4g is a beast of a phone -- why they limit it to 16-bit color is beyond me...even the droid has 16M color.
