Samsung NX5 becomes official little brother to NX10 hybrid DSLR
So you like Samsung's NX10 pseudo-DSLR camera, but can't quite reach up to its price point? Good old uncle Sammy is looking out for you with this here budget-friendly model -- the NX5 replaces the AMOLED display with a standard 3-inch LCD, but looks to be keeping all the other important features. That means you're still getting an electronic viewfinder and that 14.6 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor -- which collected plenty of review approbation -- inside a compact body, plus the same selection of NX-mount lenses to choose from. A €699 ($855) launch price might not seem like a great deal, but we've found its elder brother retailing for $619 on Amazon.de together with a kit lens, so expect prices to tumble downwards shortly after this shooter's release in late June.

Tried the NX10 at a local store, and loved it.
Really impressed with Samsung and its latest sub-DSLRs...
It may be an overkill for me to have an NX10/5 in between my PowerShot and EOS, but will definitely look into their future NX-series products when my cameras retire :)
I'll have to wait for the official Sony Nex5 review. Especially considering the price. Good to have another option tho.
Hyb.....rid.....????
Would you stop calling it a hybrid DSLR already?
Fine, it's marketed as a hybrid camera, but it doesn't have a mirror or pentaprism!
@Sarig
Well, it is using a [crop] DSLR sensor, and I think that's why they call it "hybrid" DSLRs... Some call it Mirrorless DSLR, too.
@Sarig Exactly! Finally somebody that knows what they're talking about. A DSLR is not a DSLR if there are no mirrors- end of story. I'm sick of people calling these DSLRs. Are they good cameras? maybe, but not DSLR. A dell is a good computer but its not a Mac.
Mirrors FTW!!!!
engadget, stop with the misinformation!
APS-C does not make a DSLR!! if there's no pentaprism, it's not an SLR.
This sort of marketing and engadget's continuation of it is what confuses consumers.
Bought the Oly E-PL1 and so far I'm loving it.
Great to see this new category of cameras coming out. Can't wait for the full review of NX5 and the Sony NEX.
This camera costs such as much as a D90....
Nikon>Panasonic no arguments. And D90 is an actual DSLR
@LeonardWashington This one is smaller. There's a lot of other pros and cons as well, but they've already been written up a million times in m4/3 discussions all over the webbernets.
Why anyone would get this and not a Canon T2i is beyond me. It's not much bigger and a thousand times better.
Small camera big lens...where's the advantage in that? Same with nex5....I'll stick with the micro four thirds...specifically the Pen series and the olympus lens. Not only are their camera small, but the collapsible lens makes the camera truly more portable than any other mirrorless/pentaprismless camera. Besides the PandS of course.
NX10 is usable with lens of many sizes... I hope NX5 to be the same... although there are many DSLR out there, but I'm loving the NX series better...
