question, Mr. Jobs... this Retina Display... isn't it just an increase in resolution? Couldn't you have just said that instead of renaming it entirely? A bit confused is all... Thanks
I waited until he said no Verizon or even Sprint and then called My Sprint rep and ordered me a Evo and by the time my contract is up then there will be an iphone that is on Verizon
I was surprised when I voted for iPhone 4 and it wasn't the clear #1 answer yet alone not even #2. It flows well and next year they will release the iPhone 4G. Thought that was a no brainer myself. I think most of us overthought it.
Not too impressed with the hardware, all the other vendors have that same or will have the same in the next 6 months. BUT they really have made it more efficient to share h/w between the iPad and iPhone, thus keeping costs in check, which is a smart thing. The OS changes really benefit the iPad more, making it a better device (resolution-wise). I hope the new OS is quick enough since the A4 hasn't changed since the iPad to handle more stuff as OSes like Android crumble when storgae and background apps bring it too its knees.
Looks like they are aiming to take down Windows Phone 7 first (considering Palm is dead: 'WebOS' similar naming to 'iOS'?). And this does confirm that Android and RIM are much harder competitors than believed. Nokia? The darkhorse of the bunch....
Hey!! Where's the new phone covers for our Android phones? Where's Engadget's random Android post in all this sweet apple run? Or does it only work the other way around?
Oh, and...AWESOME FREAKING PHONE, APPLE. YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB.
@SeeKo Everything is a feature, an innovative never-seen-before feature! The 5mp cam, the volume-buttons, the folder-function, the awesome design..... just unbelievable! I love steve jobs! ehhmm or no.... i hate him :D
I didn't wait I got my EVO 4G ASAP. sprint gives you a 30 day money back guarantee where they reimburse the phone the activation fee, taxes, your bill and don't apply the early termination fee.
so I figured if the iPhone is amazingly great and switches carriers then I can return the evo and get the iphone
@benthe1 How exactly is the Evo the clear choice? It is a good phone but, I personally would rather have a smaller phone since it always stays in my pocket. Aside from screen size and 4G network capabilities it's still just the same Android that will be on a thousand other Android phones. I guess we'll just have to wait and see once both phones are in the wild.
i agree! I dont have an EVO, but that is the direction im heading. My biggest concern with the new iPhone is, How Much Is It Going To Cost To Opperate??? I havent been impressed with ATT's voice or data (at all!). And, I can get a great EVO plan for $80 a month (unbeatable). man! decisions... decisions!! isnt tech great!
@skyblaze On their website this is what they say, "All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains... "
@skyblaze Did that! This just complicates things in a good way. More choices for me and maybe stick with iPhone 4 so long that I don't have to repay for my apps that I bought!
The N9 has arrived. What we can say from our first experience is that we're in the presence of a fantastically designed device with a gorgeous AMOLED screen and some highly responsive performance.

@skyblaze
iGARBAGE!!!
@skyblaze Woah! *laughs at Gizmodo*
@skyblaze
Did Steve say the new design is a "new feature"? Aehm.
Awesome!
@SeeKo
"we have never seen it"
What a surprise!
@skyblaze
Well this is a major surprise....
Ok it isn't. However I'm not sure about the aerial. Isn't that a bit dodgy?
@skyblaze I can't believe the 11.6% that voted iPhone 4 are correct. I was sure it would be iPhone HD...
@skyblaze who let him to compare this toy to a masterpiece like leica?
@skyblaze
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve you are truly a genius!
Simple yet Beautiful!
@skyblaze : LOL, Paul is probably dancing all over the place because of the 4x Pixel Density... we know just how much you love that Paul..... :D
@skyblaze
I still want one. I want one now. This is what an upgrade is Apple. I love it already.
@skyblaze
*raises hand*

@skyblaze
No, no, got to maximise the features...
Anyway, as mentioned 300 ppi is the limit and most useful on large screens. On a screen size like that 200 ppi is good enough though.
Mind you, the picture quality is pretty good when blown up to twenty times its size. Not sure how much use that actually is though.
@MarkAnderson
Hmm... something I guess is best seen in person to really grasp. Intriguing, though... color me impressed
@skyblaze
I got the name correct. over 9000 Internets to me.
@skyblaze
I waited until he said no Verizon or even Sprint and then called My Sprint rep and ordered me a Evo and by the time my contract is up then there will be an iphone that is on Verizon
@supermanc When, in 2012? The Exclusivity deal is still on for the next 2 years, right?
@skyblaze No "i never saw this coming" face.
But I do have an "O" Face though
@amardeus
haha. yes, i too, voted iPhone 4
@oproski of course it was iphone 4...then will be 4G then 4GS.
@oproski
well he couldn't change the design in time for the convention, so they changed the name. :)
@skyblaze
the big questions is how much $$$$ is it gonna cost?
@arash
if he's comparing this to a leica, it better produce good pictures, like 37 MP the leica's are capable of.
@skyblaze Like the fact they changed the name of the OS to iOS, but I think OS I like OS X would have sounded cooler.
Wow! Not 4G as anticipated. Pretty disappointing...
@skyblaze don't you mean iNeversawthiscoming ?
@iPhoneKiller21
Go f---- die and stop spamming with your iPhone app crap.
@oproski

dear jobs. thanks for making me feel even better about dropping at&t and getting an evo.
sincerely,
your last dropped call

@neonext haha. My thoughts exactly. EVO 4G is the clear choice here but Apple fanboys will stay in denial all their life.
@iPhooey
I'm disappointed in your comment. Nobody anticipated 4G. There aren't any 4G networks yet in the US.
@skyblaze Wow looks exactly like a LG phone
@oproski Wooot lol called it; now where's my prize!
@chabig Don't be ignorant, we all know Sprint has 4G, stop trolling...
@skyblaze

I never saw a measly 32GB of storage coming...way too little...any opinions? Personally it should be at least 64GB...!
@theedude
Are you kidding me?! The title is "iPhone 4 announced for $199"! You didnt even have to read the article...
@supermanc
I didn't wait I got my EVO 4G ASAP. sprint gives you a 30 day money back guarantee where they reimburse the phone the activation fee, taxes, your bill and don't apply the early termination fee.

My only question is, Will it blend?
@amardeus A winner is you.
@oneloveoneworld damn that's actually interesting. obv it will but how many hits does it take to shatter that glass, the design looks pretty solid.
@skyblaze
so the question now is when will the new jailbreak come out?
@skyblaze
"i never saw this coming" face. I just bought iphone 3Gs a month ago, not fair!
@skyblaze
Did that! This just complicates things in a good way. More choices for me and maybe stick with iPhone 4 so long that I don't have to repay for my apps that I bought!
