Still boring phones
@Jmartino
Now all manufacturers take notice and update all phones forever. ..
Point is, if the myTouch 3G can handle 2.2, there's no excuse on the planet big enough for HTC to not get 2.2 on the Hero. Seriously.
@Mike10010100
It's more about Sprint, than HTC
And is that Evo 4G vs iPhone 4 article coming back?
Guys, get it through your fat brains, WE, THE ENGADGET READERS, WANT THAT ARTICLE BACK!
@Technologeee That article sucked.
You don't need a task killer on Android.
You can't properly compare things like their cameras or the iPhones real battery life yet.
It was a lot of nothing.
@Technologeee
there you go: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cache:http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/09/iphone-or-evo-which-one-should-you-get/
@Stengo
Thanks!
Be sure to vote on the new CNET poll
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-20007000-233.html
:D
@Technologeee I was wondering why it was the top commented article, but I couldn't find it.
@Technologeee
Cnet pretty much clear things up and iPhone is loosing 20% to the Evo last time I've seen. Engadget don't want the iphone poll to suck that's why.
I am Captain Planet and the EVO is my favorite smartphone!
@Technologeee Someone should tip Engadget off about this.
@Stengo
Wow, I searched google trying to find it on google cached and nothing, but you got it.
Thanks, this is one of the best posts I have seen here on Engadget, you rescued that lost article for us.
Wow, talk about taking control T-mobile. Good job.
Now, WHERE is my iPhone 4 vs. EVO article? Are the vote counts done? Did you rig the poll like Iran did with its elections last year?
@kapanak
Not done, Engadget took the article down, they deleted it.
Engadget is so protective over the iphone and apple, that they dont want to show the world that the evo is in fact very close, or even better than the iphone.
They are even digging into articles like this and deleted the poll relatewd comments..
how pathetic, I know..
theres even a friggin forum site up talking about it, and it was just a few hours ago
http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/97335-engadgets-iphone-4-vs-evo-poll.html
@kapanak again, there you go: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cache:http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/09/iphone-or-evo-which-one-should-you-get/
@Technologeee
the evo is only close because android fans are a vocal minority on tech blogs. thats why windows mobile has double android marketshare
And what of the G1?
@B3astofthe3ast xda will have it up a month before release.
@gonintendo I'm sure the DangerSPL will be a requirement. There were rumors that HTC was going to release a PC installer for 2.1 on the G1, which would flash a new SPL.
@B3astofthe3ast
I'm sure it will be a requirement, but with that in mind I have no doubt it'll be up soon.
Any news about Rogers Magics? No? Didn't think so...
@RioRyan
No update for Rogers.
But once is out for this guy, it will be easier to port to 32A and faster.
@RioRyan
so rogers is working on getting 2.1... once we get 2.1 they will say somehow our magics cant handle it and they will worry about other phones getting 2.2
Well I vote for the EVO 4G.
Wait, where did the poll go?
@sonicyoof
Well, a certain someone might have told Engadget to put down that poll. Because their product is loosing by a good margin.
Where the heck is the Evo vs iPhone4 Poll? I need to see the numbers so I can finally decide which phone to buy. My decision relies on the results.
@robott
I know!
Engadget took them down because they fear that the evo will surpass the iphone, and make them look bad....
The last numbers known (I am digging the hell out of this, its all over facebook, twitter, and many many forums)
is iPhone at 44% (gone down from 46%)
and the Evo 4G at 35% (gone straight up from 30%)
I dont know the numbers, but id guess they would be in the 5,000 vs 4,000s
@robott
And here we go. A poll on CNET.com (A very very popular and well known site, if you dont already know lol)
iphone 4 vs Evo 4G votes are in, and wow..
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-20007000-233.html
@Technologeee
How long did it take you guys to get the word out to stack the results of that one..?
@ebon
I had nothing to do with the influence of that poll, but the editor released it on (checking the site right now), "June 7, 2010 2:06 PM PDT" - the pasted time from the poll:
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-20007000-233.html
So its been 3 days or so, and the Evo is winning by 2,322 votes and has the most votes @ 58% of 12,223 total votes.
BTW, I am getting the iPhone 4 (the white one 16gb fosho), I just cant stand how "PRO Apple" Engadget has become, and I really want it to stop. I have been reading on engadget for such a long time and I have never seen them this bad..
Good. Now the question is, would the free tethering capability be enabled.
@pika2000
Boy, I like to know that too. Android have a tethering apps for that but it cost you a 1 time fees. Well worth it.
T-Mobile is setting a great example for the other carriers. Let's hope Sprint will do the same for the Hero and Moment.
@capnwalrus. Doubt it. I have a moment and have a feeling eclair is all I'm gonna get. A sprint/best buy Rep told my girlfriend the hero is being discontinued. Take that for what its worth. I feel like I know more about these phones than those idiots.
WHERE DID THAT EVO vs iPhone article go????!!!!! It was located here:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/09/iphone-or-evo-which-one-should-you-get/
NOW IT IS GONE!
@(Unverified)
Engadget probably pulled it, after getting word that the fandroids sent out their lemming distress call and they all swarmed...
@ebon
Actually they pulled it cuz the iCrap4 was getting pwoned by the Evo and Engadget was pissing in their pants cuz the oh magical and revolutionary iCrap was losing, go to CNET and go see the results
@JonnyB
Where is said CNET article I should read? I did a quick search but found nothing exciting..
and the G1.... darn our small ROM size :(
no way 2.2 runs well on mt3g. unless it's a super limited version.
@RichS
Android 2.1 runs well on the G1, better than the stock 1.6. Considering that 2.2 is supposed to be quicker than 2.1, then it should run just fine on the MyTouch, or even the G1.
@RichS Everything will probably run fine, just not live wallpaper. 2.2 is is supposed to be optimized and faster, with JIT enabled.
@RichS Android is not Windows, the requirements do not increase just because the version number does. Live wallpapers do not count since it's just a gimmick.
And I just sold my original myTouch 3G to get an EVO too. What a shame.
I want an update for my hero but since punk ass sprint is bogarting us into buying an Evo I don't see it happening and as for us that use or upgrade to acquire the Hero support still expects us to pay full price
@misterhearn Well Sprint *did* just roll out a 2.1 upgrade for the Moment and Hero, so they aren't sitting mildly by. All three of Sprint's Android devices are now running the same edition of the OS...yep, Evo dudn' have Froyo yet unfortunately. Hafta tether by hand. FOrtunately it's quite easy to root and do this.
Maybe Tmobile shouldn't start sentence w/ "At T"-mobile. Or maybe it is better for T-mo to subconsciously admit ATT is first before them.
Thanks for the link. Thought I was losing my mind.
finally an update. i thought wed be stuck with 1.6 forever.
