I've had my 3gs since using an early upgrade to get it last august.
I want the 4, but I'm not eligble for early upgrade pricing or a full subsidy until Jan 2011.
I find this unfair when people who were new o AT&T and bought the 3gs at launch are already eligible for a FULL subsidy.
I know I signed and contract and I'm not trying to be cheap. I just think AT&T is screwing peope who used an early upgrade to get the 3gs. If it matters, my bill is about $95 a month.
I don't get it. How is it unfair that someone who bought the 3GS before you gets to upgrade sooner? You seriously think AT&T should account for the fact that you were an AT&T/iPhone customer before you got the 3GS and give you a full upgrade less than a year after you bought your phone?
If they bought it the day it came out and are eligible 1 year later, I'd like to be eligible 1 year later (august) as well. I'd even be happy with the early upgrade cost, NOT the full subsidy. But I'm not eligible for anything until next january.
Because when I check my eligibility it tells me I can take advantage of no commitment pricing.
For others, it either tells them you are eligible for a upgrade (aka full subsidy) or it tells them they are eligible for an upgrade at a discounted price. ( early upgrade 399 or 499)
Tell me again why you think people who bought a 3GS at launch (June 2009) are eligible for upgrade only 1 year later? As far as I know NO ONE who bought a 3GS at launch qualifies for anything since they all had to renew for 2 years during June 2009 and therefore they are just barely ending their 1st year of their contract. So that makes you only 10 months into your plan, which makes perfect sense why you're not getting anything.
@wanzer I bought a 3gs as an upgrade to my original iPhone day one and I get to upgrade full subsidy and the 18 dollar fee waived. I have been with AT&T since 04 and my bill is 85 a month single user. I get a discount on my bill because the company I'm with.
So you renewed your contract in June of last year, you're now one year into your contract, and you're allowed the full subsidy of $199 for the iphone 4. Are you sure you're not talking about the early upgrade price of $399/499? Because ATT said that only people that are eligible before the end of the year (including up to December 31st) are being bumped up to June for full subsidy of $199/299. There might be internal rules set by ATT that allows full subsidy only 1 year into their contracts that they haven't told us...

with iPhones you are always eligible for an early upgrade

@wanzer I don't understand why I can from all the rules for upgrading as I have seen. But this is what doing that one number on my phone tells me.
"As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and waive the $18 upgrade fee."
