Ricoh GXR P10 sensor and lens combo gets reviewed
We're still not sure that the world knows it needs a compact camera with both interchangeable lenses and sensors, but Ricoh's giving us all another reason to believe with the P10. This is a 10 megapixel, 1/2.3-inch sensor combined with a 10.7x, 28 - 300mm lens that, according to Photography Blog performs much better than its compact-sounding specs would lead you to believe -- as it should for a price of $299 on its own, or $499 with the GXR body. It'll do 720p video recording and capture RAW images at 5fps with full manual controls. These features earn it a solid recommendation and it's said to be the best expansion pack for the GXR yet. That's despite not offering any new factions, levels nor, indeed, a single new playable character.

I wish there was a (very) low cost non-SLR camera with interchangeable lenses. Pentagonal lenses are nice but I just don't need one. They're expensive and bulky. Just something small with a point-and-shoot style screen.
@nexekho
You're in luck! http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/10/ricoh-gxr-p10-sensor-and-lens-combo-gets-reviewed
@nexekho You're not willing to spend money on dSLR, why would you wanna spend extra money on the lenses especially on a cheap plastic body??
@tome0124 Because lenses make it more versatile. I could go EPIC MACRO or EPIC TELE and still get good shots if I got decent lenses. A silly pentagonal lens that lets me look right down the scope (erm like a LCD?) just adds bulk and expense hardly does the same. Right now I have a superzoom bridge point-and-shoot, I only wish the superzoom didn't come at the cost of serious chromatic aberration.
I'm amazed. If not for the article information, I'd have thought this camera was from the 90s with a design such as that one *scratches head* of course what it looks like means nothing, it's all about the specs / internals. Just wierd such a design style still exists *shrugs*.

This is the kind of writing that makes Engadget awesome!
This thing is surprisingly good.
I kinda like it. I always wanted a good zoom range on a compact with the equivalent of the Canon G9. However there's no sample videos yet of the 720 video, I never upgraded to a G10/G11 because of this. Would be real nice if they also add a low aperture lens.
I would like to buy canon it best for me.

@shuriken I've never seen that camera before.
