Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 caught on video looking like a giant cellphone
Ready to see Samsung's 7-inch Tab tablet do its thing on video? Sure you are. However, this isn't the same Galaxy Tab that we saw in the picture teased by Samsung. First of all, it has a different collection of Android-friendly "buttons" along the bottom and seems to be void of Samsung's TouchWiz UI skin. It's also carrying a P1000 model number. Well, at least the 7-inch Super AMOLED remains the same. See the quick action go by in a blur after the break.
P.S. The dialer pictured above seems to confirm that the Tab can be used like a giant phone. No, really. We've heard this previously as rumor but didn't believe it until now. The second video perfectly illustrates the reason for our concern. [Thanks, Saad]

I'd bet it has phone capabilities so it can ship with Android Market. Google has very strict device hardware requirements which manufacturers must fulfill before they can include the Market on their device.
@mattj99 Ha I just asked that question thanks for answering it before I asked that'll teach me to read every comment before I post.
if I'm not mistaken doesn't an android device have to hae phone capability to use the android market or am i off base here?
And that would be the Eclair Gallery 3D at 0:11, definitely an android device
How come they changed the buttons?
@ Engadget - the Apple agent!
What would you call the apple's iPad then?!
What makes me sick is how so many people have taken cheap shots at the ipad for being useless and bought only to seem cool, yet the competition puts out bottom of the barrel Android based tablets and they are deemed awesome. Pathetic!
@summerboy18 because apple uses samsung processers inside.. to start with
iPad KIRF
As long as it fits in the front pants pocket, the bigger screen the better.
A bluetooth headset in the other pocket is all you need to make calls in public without drawing attenting.
I prefer a 4-5" with a slide out keyboard.
But, if no qwerty is available, I'll take the biggest screen I can fit in my pocket.
Lmao is this serious? People are upset iPad is a giant phone or so they claim, so samsung actually makes their tablet a giant phone and the fanboys suddenly LOVE giant phones.
This thing doesn't even look innovative, cool it's got an amoled screen (once those of you actually get tablets I'm sure you'll realized how ridiculous sitting for hours in the sun with a tablet would be anyway but its fine) and possibly USB ports, but from the brief clip of the home interface it's literally the iPad/ios springboard slightly modified. Guess its back to waiting for notion to bring out some real comp.

ROTFL that IPad as a phone video totally cracks me up.

aw, trigger happy TV flashbacks....... loved that show!
Looks very responsive. Too bad I wanted the 10" one.
LOL @ the second video. That made my day right there. "I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF IT'S A PHONE."
The device in that video looks completely fake. If the Samsung Tab had an OLED, let alone a Super OLED, it would look nothing like that.
The viewing angles are horrible and the screen looks like a normal washed out LCD compared to how vibrant even cheap OLEDs are. Also, at :20 you'll notice backlight streaks along the bottom, which you obviously wouldn't have on an OLED screen (based on how it gets its light).
It's obvious how fake the device is, stick to the pictures for your day dreaming :)
I hate that bubble skin they throw on top of the icons. blech.
