1) The Samsung overlay is crap. 2) Samsung will pull a Behold 2. 3) The phone is plasticy and appeats cheap, unlike iPhone 4, regardless of both your or my feelings towards the iPhone. Oh, and they removed the front camera. Say goodbye to Fring, Skype, Qik, face recognition, eye tracking, and any other cool application to that.
1) Not crap 2) Will update with 2.2 3) Not as "plasticy" as one might think. If you scratch the back of your phone (not if when), a plastic back is much easier (and cheaper) to replace than a metal or glass backside. Also the heavier an object the more force with which the product will hit the ground, increasing your chances that it will sustain heavier damage.
I was looking forward for the Galaxy S for Verizon but am hesitant to buy Samsung due to unfulfilled android update promises on prior phones. I do really enjoy their products but will most likely wait for the Droid X as high sales will result in updates.
@TareG Last time you've used, if ever the Samsung overlay? I haven't used Ninja blur or whatever Moto is calling it these days, but Samsung get's the worst wrap for their UI, and I understand it isn't original or pretty, but it is simple and adds functionality. I'd prefer vanilla, but Sense is bloaty, Blur was crap, Touchwiz (at least on the Humingbird) is fast and improves stock (though I still want stock, because I want timely updates).
I just figure you haven't used this phone much, if even at all, in a store or elsewhere. Weight and size couldn't be better in my book.
"I'm looking to grab a new phone using a prepaid service. What's the best prepaid phone service in terms of overall price, phone selection and other bells / whistles. Thanks!"

Now here is hoping
a) the samsung overlay is not crap
b) Samsung does not pull a behold 2
c) the phone is not as light weight and plasticy as they say.
Once my plan ends September I am going to be the proud owner of the Samsung Vibrant. I can do without FFC.

@spacemonkeymojo Samsung has shipped over 1 million phones to over 100 carriers internationally, I wouldn't worry about the sales figures...

@juanvaldez
So the overlay is good?
Well it shall be here very soon at tmobile and I guess I will be the judge of everything. Can't infer too much until using the actual product.
It looks promising. I am very interested and happy tmobile is getting such a nice phone.
@TareG
Your iPhone will feel plasticky real soon now Mr Jobs antenna cock up means you need a rubber case to make a call.
@PathogenX Maybe the Samsung overlay can be turned off?
