Fujitsu Lifebook TH700 brings convertible tablet magic at a more affordable price
With a 2.26GHz Core i3-350M processor and a $1,149 asking price, the Fujitsu Lifebook TH700's no netvertible, to be sure, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a tablet with more bang for the buck. Near as we can tell, this svelte 12.1-inch convertible's built on the same chassis as the Lifebook T730 we saw last month, with half the RAM and a slower CPU but all those lovely goodies intact. That means for $700 less than its older brother, you're getting a pen-and-capacitive-touch dual digitizer on top of that LED-backlit display, fingerprint and ambient light sensors plus a removable dust filter -- not to mention the standard 320GB hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, DVD burner and HDMI port. With a $50 mail-in rebate presently available to celebrate its stealthy arrival, it sounds like a done deal to us -- assuming, of course, that no other corners were cut.

The question is this or wait for the exxo pc
@Rem DX
or the HP TM2t with the new core i3...
@Ingus I'm liking the TM2T, but in reality whichever one goes on buku sale first is the one I'll probably get, heh. I don't mind waiting a bit to avoid paying full price.
@Rem DX
Good questions. I'm thinking a Tablet would be sweet but the full keyboard is nice too... The tablet needs to not have an Atom proc tho...
@Dig Deep
I meant slate... Not tablet.
@Rem DX
Im holding out for the new Touchbook from alwaysinnovating.
That thing looks really bulky!
@Shadowfax07 +1
This or the HP...
well they'll be fiting for my money now.
Still thinking a refurbished Dell Latitude XT
It looks like somebody crapped on an iPad.....
Even thought I know they don't, every time I see them I'd swear that hinge is one lid closing away from breaking.
@Ninjakid4
It is a surprisingly durable hinge...and unlike other manufacturers, it is bi-directional.
They should have cut out the optical drive in an effort to make it thinner and lighter. Heck, I'm even thinking of not including an optical drive in my next desktop build. You can always attach a USB optical drive in a pinch.
@RehabMan
Agreed.. no need for an optical drive in any device these days. As long as it has usb I prefer it stay away until I need it.
they'll sell dozens.
yawn ... wake me up when someone makes something new.
Great price for a Fujitsu and dual mode tablets get best of both worlds - touch + pen. Fujitsu makes high quality tablets that may look ugly but have durability with features like spill resistant keyboards as standard.
Why doesn't this article have a laptop tag?
Eh, nah, I'll stick with my Touchsmart TM2!
Wow, I was about to buy the t4310 which is almost identical to this model. The only real difference that I can spot within the specs is the cpu. Aside from that, for the same price as the t4310 I'll get this instead.
is there a link to the alternative to this?
Just my 0.02 cents, unbiased opinion on the Lifebook line. I just setup two Lifebook T900's about a week ago at one of the facilities I support. The concept is cool, not sure how long that pivot point will hold up with all the wear and tear and twisting. I found the screen to be a bit flimsy when using it in laptop mode with keyboard. I was stuck using a Windows XP Sp3 image on them due too the apps we use. I found the stylus pen to screen touch not that sensitive, had to tap on the screen a few times to get it to recognize. They were a bit heavy in your arms when using them in tablet mode. If you’re going to use this in a Hospital environment, check around to see what else is out there. If you can get away with using an iPad, I would go that route. I really like Fujitsu hardware, they make really nice gear, but the Lifebook line, not really sure of. Depending on what you’re going to use it for.
Thats some ugly sh*t.
It is always relevant to state whether a touchscreen is multitouch or not. please do so.
I have always loved Fujitsu tablets...I own an old T4010D tablet that I used for college and it was absolutely amazing. For school, I would take a tablet (the original tablets...not an ipad tablet) over a regular laptop any day!
