Sony to recall half a million 'too hot to handle' VAIO laptops
Well, this isn't good. Sony's issued a warning that about half a million of its VAIO laptops are at risk of seriously overheating, and could even cause burns. The company says that the heat-monitoring chips of its VAIO F and C series laptops (which were launched in January) could be defective, causing them to overheat and physically warp. Sony says it's received about 40 total complaints about the issue, and that affected customers will be able to download a software fix or contact the company directly to have the laptop picked up for a repair.

I may disagree with what you said N900, buy you are not a fandroid. Stupid trolls...
@TheZaccharaSyndicate Lmao @ calling a nokia fanboy (I mean that in a nice way, N900) a "fandroid".
Sony Vaio... now with special Starship captain voice commands!
"Full ahead, Maximum Warp!"
"There is no overheating issue. Stay tuned".
Oh wait, wrong company.
So they weren't holding it wrong!
Well I'll atleast give them kudos for admitting they have a problem. But this kinda thing never looks good on their image
Sony's selling some Hot stuff lately hum?
You could've said close to 500,000 laptops.. but instead 'half a million' just so you make it sound a lot more and make Sony would look bad. Shame on you
@Stealthhawk007 I especially hate when someone does that with the word 'decade.' That's only 10 years! Not really that long. When I hear some clown saying "wow that took half a decade," I feel like punching him in the face.
@MastahRiz
If it's a mac or iphone Engadget's reporting about, I'm sure it'd be the other way around..
@Stealthhawk007
And if this post was about an Apple product, it was have four times the number of comments from whining anti-Apple piss ants calling for Apple's head.
I emailed Sony support about my new VAIO F warping from heat. Nice to see them get on it!
Wow I had either a Sony vaio or toshiba a505-6030 on my radar.
Geez! And I almost bought this. Any suggestions which brand/model I should buy instead?

@Dimples
I have the same question!
@Dimples buy that one. It's a software fix. All new ones will come pre patched or you can do it yourself.

Shouldn't Sony be applauded for this action?
They're acknowledging and acting on this issue from only 40 complaints out of 500,000 laptops.
The title is also misleading it's NOT a recall in anyway whatsoever.
There's a software fix for the problem. If you don't want to fix it yourself you can send it in to be fixed for you.
LOL, "Too Hot To Handle" was totally taking from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Commercials..
I found these patches in eSupport website.
