Colorware jazzes up your new Xbox 360

No need for a fanciful new HDTV? Not even a new Segway? There's some colorful home entertainment gear for you yet. The famed gadget painting company just announced that Microsoft's shiny new Xbox 360 is the next to go under the gun, with near limitless color options waiting to be splashed onto each and every panel. If you managed to already pick one up, Colorware's charging $175 for the send-in option; if you're looking to buy new, that'll cost you at least five Benjamins. But hey, that's nothing for the satisfaction of owning a game console that's part orange, part lime green and part purple, right?

Not to mention that it isnt rocket science to get your case off to paint it, and it doesnt have to be ultra durable since its really just standing there.

Pop it off, lightly sand it, and hit it with a few coats of plastic spray paint of the color of your choosing.

Shouldnt cost more than $10.

It's not ColorWare that chose the ugly combo of red and white, that was Engadget. You don't have to have a multicolored Xbox, I made one in abyss (dark blue) and it looked pretty sweet.

If you read past posts that Engadget puts up, they always pick the worst color combos. It's almost if they have beef with ColorWare.

BTW the hideous light blue and lime green one on ColorWare's page helps people id which part is what.

I find the color ware service actually pretty neat, I sent in my two Xbox 360 controllers and had them make one neon green and the other purple. love the different look of em and when I have friends over they always complain their Xbox controller is too plain.

@spaz4322 Am I the only one that's heard of spray paint that's meant for plastic, or do people just like looking for reasons to spend money? Seriously, a $4 can of paint or $100 + 2 way shipping for custom plastic. Plus with paint you can change the color every month if you get bored of it. BTW, custom LEDs are way cooler than a custom color, and they're not gonna do that for you, but you can get the parts at radio shack for $5.

i understand the uses of spray paint, but I persoanlly suck at it, ive tried and it comes out splotchy, drippy and peels.

and leds are tacky, i dont need a bright light glaring into my eyes while playing fifa or forza.
