Colorware jazzes up your new Xbox 360
No need for a fanciful new HDTV? Not even a new Segway? There's some colorful home entertainment gear for you yet. The famed gadget painting company just announced that Microsoft's shiny new Xbox 360 is the next to go under the gun, with near limitless color options waiting to be splashed onto each and every panel. If you managed to already pick one up, Colorware's charging $175 for the send-in option; if you're looking to buy new, that'll cost you at least five Benjamins. But hey, that's nothing for the satisfaction of owning a game console that's part orange, part lime green and part purple, right?

Give me a purple and gold one
but where will it show the RROD?
I like it, reminds me of a 1950s diner
Thats just stupid, no matter what console your a fan of, that's plain dumb! Spray paint anyone?
I think they are going for the NES color scheme.
Ugly and expensive though.
seeing as I only paid 20 bucks for mine? I think i'll pass.. $170 is ridiculous. and it probably voids the warranty too.
Colorware is the shit.
This is lame.
This only makes the new 360 look more like the bastard child of the original NES and an 8-track player. Some Microsoft designer has a thing for the 80's, no doubt.
NES coloured anything makes it better!
I want mine in matte black, but its giving me a price of $380 for that?
I never seen the point of this.
Though that's probably because I cannot afford it.
How in the world this company stays in business in this economy is amazing. This must not be their only/primary business.
imo Coloware gets too much exposure on engadget.
The new Xbox hasn't been out that long, so to even consider changing the color seems odd to me, especially since shinny black has never been an option available before. But whatever...
HOWEVER, the options presented seem, I dunno, ugly. Red and white? Blue and green? Maybe if it had art or a design it might be more interesting.
@Starcade I agree, but you can create an absolutely custom solid or multi color combo on their website. I have no idea WHY they would show off this crap combo tho. http://i47.tinypic.com/30a9ptt.jpg
Do they have one that looks like an 8bit NES? That'd be so cool.
I actually like the maroon red & white Xbox 360. Colorware does really good work.
Endgadget, they charge different prices depending on the coloring options you choose. I did one config that was $203 and another that was $185.
instead of buying a hideously designed black console...
you can now pay extra for a hideously designed console of any color
More like "j*zzes up your 360" ... and your bank account. Total waste of money.
That is one extremely ugly 360. Reminds me when I lived in hong kong in 92 there was a super famicom that had almost the same ugly color patrn, beige & red...fugly
@Twinkle Tits That's the original Famicom. The Super Famicom had a more subdued grey color scheme.
"Hey colorware I'll do you a deal, I'll give you my hard earned cash and you can ruin my brand new 360 s"
Can I have mine in black?...
Man, Colorware has no taste whatsoever. But then again, if there's a market then why not. It's the consumer who has no taste.
Seriously, another article on this company? We get it- there's a company that paints tech and then charges outlandish prices for it. Why are these guys getting press?
