Quanta sets new record for laptop shipments in June
You may not realize it, but there's a good chance that the laptop you're using right now was made by Quanta -- the company is the largest laptop manufacturer in the world, and it looks like it's only getting bigger. According to PC World, the company (which counts HP, Dell and Sony among its clients) set a new record for laptop shipments in June, moving upwards of 4.8 million laptops for about $3.1 billion in revenue. It does expect shipments to "slow down a little bit" in July, however, but says things should rebound again in August. What's the cause for the uptick? Quanta says it's at least partly due to the easing of some component shortages, including those Arrandale processors that have been in short supply -- as PC World notes, Intel has said that it's been ramping up production in order to catch up with demand before the end of the second quarter.

Some companies remain unknown but still have so much influence on the market.
@BlkRb0t
I wonder if they make OLED screens.....
@BlkRb0t I knew about them all along. My HP laptop has a Quantas Motherboard.
costa quanta?
Dude you're getting a Quanta!
I've never heard of them either... but 10-15 years ago no one heard of companies like HTC, Asus, and Acer and they were doing exactly what Quanta is doing now (before marketing and pushing their own products).
@diulei
That's because these TAIWANESE companies (and of course their home country, TAIWAN) are not being recognized 10-15years ago due to its situation with its "neighbour"
@lcdyen
No, it has/had nothing to do with that. In fact, 10-15 years ago Taiwan was more recognized than it is now since China has progressed so much since then, so don't try to politicize this. It has to do with the fact the companies like HTC and Asus were strictly white-label OEM makers. They didn't stamp their names on anything, nor did they create/market their own products, and that started changing in the late 90s early 2000s.
@diulei
Ten years ago Compaq and hp were using mostly Quanta and Jabil to build their laptops.
Will they become the new Foxconn???
@StraightUp
Ah, they're Taiwanese, so probably not.
@StraightUp
are you are fatard or what? Foxconn and Quanta are all headquartered in Taiwan, what do you mean by "they're Taiwanese, so probably not."
@StraightUp
I recommend Google "Companies that use Sweatshops"
@seanleeforever
fatard
"Someone who has a weight problem and is socially inept. One who tries to identify themself with materialistic items rather than figure out how to talk to people effectively. "
That sound much more like you; now doesn't it.
Yes I know that Foxconn is Taiwanese, I didn't see that Quanta had a 40K person facility in China, until i click the QSMC link.
@goldman60
Cool, that linked back to your post!
they shipt more laptops then apple.
@pinktacoyummm
Actually, they ship Apple mobile devices.
@pinktacoyummm
Well duh. Quanta also makes laptops for Apple
$3.1 billion revenue for 4.8 million units. That's $645.83 per laptop to the company. Seems ridiculously high.
