Antenna-aid bandages your iPhone 4 reception issue, hopes for role in next Eminem video
Oh, Steve -- you should've known better. You show up and remove a laptop from a manila envelope, and Earth's most creative go and create a case fashioned out of one. You go and suggest that Eminem could "come out with a band-aid that goes over the corner" of your controversial iPhone 4, and well... this happens. You could wait for a free case, or you could buy six of these Antenna-aids for five bucks. The choice is obvious.

Wow...Don't for get some apple koolaid for disinfectant.
@Sonicjet So even cell phones (well, just one phone) these days needs bandages
@Sonicjet
Sometimes I wonder if Antennagate isn’t just another Marketing trick of Jobs. I mean sure, it has caused a lot of hate for Apple, but it has also resulted in more press than it ever would’ve gotten had it not had this major flaw. I mean, imagine if Droid X had 15+ Articles written about it each day on Engadget or another leading tech blog? Hopefully it comes back to bite Steve in the butt, but we shall see.
@Sonicjet (@him for reel) and don't forget some water to un-flame this thread.
a little more ontopic: Its good we live in a world where a simple idea can become reality so fast!
It's funny because it's true, lol.
@Sonicjet
iPhone 2G: A Slippery phone, the front screen made of fragile glass
iPhone 4: A solid phone, surrounded entirely of glass
iPhone 6: A solid phone, surrounded entirely of paper.
People of our generation, its sad what the world is coming to, where we need band aides for our phones..
Go get your favourite phone now, before its - too - late .
@JLPicard
Gizmodo rips off of Engadget even more, so why dont you go there and yell at them.
@Spectrality
i wouldn't consider a device with one-third as many returns and one half of one percent calls to customer service to be exhibiting a "major flaw."
Down rank me if you agree.
@Sonicjet it works like 'magical'
what do you expect haha
@Sonicjet
Hahahahahahahahahaha now that's a damn shame. Jobs, aka the Bowser of smartphone industry ([c] @TatianaKing), is surely pissed.
@uckApple
I have no idea WTF you are talking about. You should be ashame of your name though.
By the way, I think the ad is really funny.
@mobilehavoc It is of course possible that they are intentionally pointing out how dumb it is to claim that a consumer electronics device is "magical" (especially a product that has such a noticeable flaw) by stating something equally nonsensical about their accessory.
@uckApple
Sounds like you should take your Iphone back for a refund
@uckApple
LOL, they've been getting more fragile by the generation, thus necessitating cases and feeding more money towards apple. Don't you get it? LOL
JK JK. The band-aid is pretty funny though.
@mobilehavoc
Sarcasm fail much? Seriously learn to understand a joke...
@Spectrality The Droid X has plenty of bad press today with the rampant issues of bad screens! And I love how folks call it a "major flaw". The only time it's even an issue is when you have bad coverage. Even then you have to squeeze it consistently in the bottom left area to get it drop bars! I don't know anyone that holds their phone to their ear in that fashion. 80% of people put a case on their smartphones to protect their investment, so why do people still want to make a big deal out of it? If you don't like the iPhone, don't buy it and shut the fuck up. Aside from the minor antenna flaw, it's a perfect device. Incredible screen, smooth and sleek interface and multitasking, FaceTime is great, the camera takes beautiful pictures and HD video (much better than the Droid X or EVO), and the speeds scream. I'm consistently getting 5.5 mbps down and 1.2 mbps up! Plus, the phone call quality is much better. There is so much to love about the iPhone 4, but the haters want to focus on one thing and one thing only. Hate on, Haters!
@JLPicard
I read both articles. Would you like to point out exactly what was plagiarized. Or shall I point you to a dictionary?
@TomSawyer
lol at iSheep quoting Steve Jobs press conference. Yes numbers don't lie, unless you tell them too.
Look everyone the iPhone only drops
@corylulu
lol at iSheep quoting Steve Jobs press conference. Yes numbers don't lie, unless you tell them too.
Look everyone the iPhone only drops (less than)1 more call per 100 than before... "less than 1"!!!! thats like nothing right?
Well what we didnt say is how many calls were dropped before.
If it was 10 calls per 100 on the 3gs TOTAL, then that would make the iPhone 4 only be at 11 per 100.
BUT if the 3gs was only about 1 per 100, that would mean that the iPhone 4 is almost twice as bad.
So yeah, numbers don't lie, people do.
*had to re-edit cuz "less than" isnt accepted.
@JLPicard He also knows how to misspell the product ( in the title and source ) even though the link and image show it correctly
@JLPicard
He also gets into silly arguments with commentators. And deletes stuff when he gets pwnd.
@JLPicard,
Maybe I missed it, but I looked at the Gizmodo article, how is this one plagerized? I don't see anything that's similar in either post?
Are you just referring to the fact that this was posted on Gizmodo first?
@StickyD I can not agree with you more I've had two iPhone 4's and have not had the antenna issue it's the people that don't have an iPhone 4 that usually bitch about it....best damn phone ever
@TomSawyer That is funny. So I am an apple fanboy. Down-rank me if you don't like it.
@corylulu
You should stick to shorter posts. You're not coherent enough for more than a couple of lines at a time
@iPhone 4
No Tom Sawyer gets consistently downranked along with BrookLynnsFinest and MicrosoftOwns by lots of users due to their bad arguments. Or in this case, a direct Steve Jobs quote basically. Yeah of course what Steve Jobs says is gonna be the cold hard truth about his own product.
@StickyD
Its funny how 'screaming speeds' only started to matter after the iPhone was able to keep up with all the competition. Back when android solely dominated the speed specs apple fanboys didn't want to hear anything about processing speeds
Sent from my iPhone 3gs :)
@JLPicard
I don't know about that but Gizmodo is a s**t place to post comments...they delete anything at all negative to Gizmodo and just constantly post Wired articles thinking it makes them journalists...That Jesus fellow is a total ahole...stupid name for a stupid a**
@Sonicjet it's NOT five bucks, it's a low low price of $4.99
@uckApple I don't see the problem with a band-aid when people have had their phones in casts for years.
@corylulu You didn't do well at math did you.
If 3GS was one call per hundred, and iPhone 4 is 2 calls per hundred dropped, that's still an amazingly low drop rate for AT&T.
Anyone would be happy with that - duh!
@JLPicard
who is ziss? Why is he blatantly plagiarisng ze name off ze best Enterprise captain ever woz? He gizmodom spy! Exterminate! Exterminate!
heh, I'm only disappointed that I didn't think of selling these first.
that definitely looks revolutionary with band-aid.
@StickyD
Lol just because you don't notice it doesn't mean it isn't there. You happen to live in a part of the country that has awesome signal. In which case, good for you.
You do NOT need to squeeze the iPhone. You merely need to connect the antennas by laying your finger or palm across the opening.
The Droid X issue is equivalent to the "yellow spot" issue of the iPhone 4, a dead pixel, or a loose screw. Trade it in if you're affected. Lest you notice the sentence in the article that states "some forumites claim to already have replaced their phone."
@Sonicjet
If you were semi-smart, you'd call it "Apple Juice"
@pukerocket I returned mine. That was the biggest phone call dropping, call muting, P.O.S. ever created. How Apple sells anything is beyond me if there other products are as bad as this one.
@corylulu But it wasn't 1% or 0.1% or 0.00001% fandroid, it was 30% so it's 30% vs under 31%. Yeah that's right, thanks to AT&T, the 3GS had a 30% dropped call rate hence the jokes about the iPhone not being able to make a call last year.
It's a shame that you clearly put a lot of time and effort into your post about convincing people that Apple are a bunch of liars and the antenna issue is horrendous but your math overlooked the return rates.
Don't you think that more than 1.7% out of 3 million people would have returned their phone if it was as bad as you try to make out?
Everybody now...
if you don't want an iPhone 4, don't buy it
if you bought one and you don't like it, bring it back
If you're a bitter fandroid, whining about a product you don't own, STFU
@Spectrality ...are you serious? I know you've probably heard the phrase "any press is good press," but, uh, try not to take everything so literally. No CEO with an IQ above 40 would purposefully include a design flaw into their product just to get it talked about.
@corylulu
Or the better way to phrase it, "It drops more calls than before." Of course Jobs phrased it weird cause generally people are stupid and only saw, "It drops less calls". Proof that Apple preys on stupid people (aren't sheep usually pretty dumb?).
(And yes I know all companies pull this BS, I'm just sick of all the Apple press and enjoy the mob-mentality).
@TinWard
I later realized that Josh made the SAME EXACT argument I just did in the Podcast. And where are you getting 30% from? Since when did the 3gs drop 30% of its calls?
Josh made the same argument and they actually talked it out. Listen to the Podcast.
@statickeith
...And apparently people these days "needs" grammar lessons.
@Sonicjet
Tee hee! http://i.imgur.com/QOXcr.jpg
@Spectrality If the Droid X had 15+ articles about it... it might have a working screen.
@StickyD i phone is slower than the anroid phones coming out. So its not super fast. Call quality is better on droid X with its 3 microphones. A little advice to you friend, you really shouldnt praise one single phone that many love to hate on here. And if you do praise, use the true facts compared to other devices. And realize its your opinion so really claiming your right is well just a glorified statement....
@RhymeMaster That was a Typo ;)
@corylulu
Funny how my phone drops ZERO out of 100 calls on average.
Guess my Sprint phone doesn't have that 'great' 10% - 11% dropped calls 'feature'.
@corylulu
That argument is kind of silly.
Look at if from a user's perspective.
If the 3GS drops 10 calls out of 100, and the 4G drops 11 out of 100, then I'd say both are kind of sucky, since they both drop about 10% of their calls.
If the 3GS drops 1 call out of 100, and the 4G drops 2 out of 100, then I'd say they're both really good, as they both drop only 1 to 2% of their calls.
Lying with statistics, indeed.
This is an ideal product to be released at Bend-Aid.
@Sisyphus
Thanks Jobs for that! If their phone needs a band-aid to carry out it's primary function, they blew it!
