BlackBerry Curve 9300 spotted in the wild again, gets examined in-depth
We've already seen what's purported to be the BlackBerry Curve 9300 out in the wild a few times, but Vietnamese site Mainguyen has now gotten its hands on a unit as well, and given us our most detailed look at the phone yet. That includes a better look at the slightly higher-end elements more reminiscent of the now-discontinued Curve 8900 than the Curve 8500 series it's apparently replacing, and confirmation of at least a few specs (including a 3.2-megapixel camera). Head on past the break for a video, and hit up the source link below

5 years ago called they want their design back.
@FrankDTank
Kindergarten called they want their comment back
@DefPoet The future called, the want Michael J. Fox back.
@FrankDTank
I suppose it'd be appropriate to say that the 9300 is a bit 'behind the curve'
@FrankDTank As i commented below, touch screen phones the new hip toys also all seem similar from the exterior
@InspectorEngadget
Cool story bro
@DefPoet
YEAH?!?!! Well I had sex with your wife!!!
@FrankDTank
stale fruit is stale...
There is something to be said for consistency though. Although I don't think it would hurt RIM to try something new and different I do understand that there is a core demographic of users out there that want and ONLY want a Blackberry and have grown accustomed to and probably love this form factor.
Why get rid of it all together? They just need to bring something else to the table.
@tobsmonster2 I know, right?
@FrankDTank Funniest thing I heard all day!!! Thanks! RIM you are in serious danger of extinction!
@BrookLynnsFinest
The storm. But ew.
According to Steve Jobs, this should sell very well.
@Subprime
Why, because it doesn't qualify as big?
Shocking. It looks just like every other BB to come out this year. Way to innovate.
@Waltah Average consumer will see the similar design and associate it with a Blackberry, see it's new, MUST HAVE!!
@Lucas Must have? Srsly? The only people I know who carry Blackberries are those whose workplaces make them. Oh, wait...I have a colleague who think it's cool...she drives a Corolla and her favorite movie is Flashdance.
Lol I think I know the same broad.
@CRA1G From personal experience at my school, people who used to have Sidekicks, which were a vast majority of the girls and some black guys, they mostly switched to either a MyTouch, or Blackberry. I think BB's are going to be popular no matter what, we nerds don't make up the entire tech community
@CRA1G
Hey, don't be harsh on Flashdance. I'll send Michael Sambello over to your place to play that horrible sountrack 24/7!
@CRA1G My workplace allowed me to carry a Droid, Thank god! I would hate to be stuck with this even worse then the 8330
If it's not broken, don't fix it!
But yeah, they will need to evolve at some point or another.
That's ... exciting?
Where the hell these Vietnamese get these prototypes from? Didn't a Vietnamese have the iPhone 4 prototype earlier this year?
@honjoe300 My cousin has also seen them, he works at a place in Mexico where 10% of the BB are made. He's not really into this stuff but he said they have the one that slides and another one. He didn't know the name of it though.
@SskyNnet okay cool. Isn't it illegal for them to disclose prototypes like that. I mean these guys don't even try to cover their identity.
@honjoe300 at least where my cuz works they can't bring a camera and they get inspected before they can get out of that place
stupid piece a real dumbphone
Looks like the old curve. I still like the design though. I think the slider looks good.
Sure they're the darling of the 'business set', but RIM seriously needs to consider another design-language, as this one is just so dated/boring - IMO.
@DaHarder
Another design language? Why? Borg seems to have served them pretty well, so far.
@CRA1G
Because the smartphone market has changed dramatically in the last few years, as in - aesthetics/features count with consumers, and RIM appears not to be taking this fact into consideration wit their newer releases.
Complacency Can Kill a Company
@DaHarder yet RIM is not an app-phone, but the 'true' smartphone...something that DOES work and holds signal when used (pun intended).
I like RIM and their designs, using a hardware keyboard is way faster than a touchscreen counterpart, no matter what I read/hear, I can type faster on my BB than most friends on their touchscreens...
I really can't tell any of the last 10 Blackberries apart. Seriously, just do SOMETHING different.
@PhonePhreak
Upped ya on that comment cuz I can't tell either ... Lol
@PhonePhreak And touch screen phones are so different from the exterior?
@PhonePhreak I can tell them all apart. Maybe you're just an idiot
oh look, another blackbe....ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZzzz
@keyrol hahahahahhahaha
@keyrol
I also lol'ed
Blackberries are tools for business, nothing more, and they do the job they're designed to do
I really think RIM should try a new design..
I'm waiting for blackberry throw back designs with the old school scroll wheel on the side. They have to know that their consumer level sales are drying up if they don't do something bold.... and not the bold they give us.
Want. Definitely a nice phone. I don't get why people are hating on it.
@Narutogrey The idea is that you can get this very same phone at any mobile retailer. People are bored with the same design year after year.
Don't get confused, it's for Vietnam market only... ;-))
seriously whats different about these phones from the last one???? besides a new camera
Teenagers and young adults are heavily into blackberry, as they simply have the best networking apps. They may not appeal to tech geeks, but they do have a niche, don't think for a second that they don't.
@MsCG1 best.. networking.. apps.. WHAT?
care to explain? last i checked, most things remotely related to (social) networking are quite awful on a BlackBerry OS.
@keyrol Good social networking and BB I think not!
@MsCG1
Sorry guys but it's true. I gave up my blackberry tour for an EVO and it's superior in every way EXCEPT for the social networking and messaging apps. Facebook is particularly heinous. My niece would rather die than to have to give up BBM. Not to mention the qwerty, which is better than all others. If you do nothing but chat and network on your smartphone, then bb is probably the best option.
